After seeing the N7 I wanted to get a "piece" of it as well, so I just changed my Build.prop density to 180.

I tried this out for about an hour, and even installed Nova Launcher, but I couldn't get it to work! It seemed as if the navigation bar was missing. So then I went ahead and recompiled the framework-res.apk but since I was on stock ROM it didn't end up working...

Editing the framework-res was a pain as well, I ran into an issue that is documented here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1750638.

Anyways, does anybody know why the nav bar won't show in phone mode? How does the nav bar show in tablet mode? What setting is it, etc?

It doesn't show up in phone mode because phones have hard buttons. Check how the gnex runs both as it has no hard buttons.

Tapatalked from my Galaxy S II.

I did, but because it requires a retool of the framework-res.apk it doesn't work in stock.

I followed these instructions: http://www.xda-developers.com/androi...n-any-ics-rom/

If you are willing to go to Jelly Bean, I have had luck with AOKP Jelly bean milestone 1 on my galaxy tab 2 10.1 (gt-p5113). I changed pixel density to 180, disabled dual panel mode, rebooted into recovery, erased cache and dalvik cache, and booted into what looks like the Google nexus ui. I hope this helps.

Jellybean defaults to phablet mode by default, tablet ui is the one needing forced.

A toggle in the settings to enable/disable tablet UI would be awesome
Just download virtual Nav bar off the market
