So, if I use the toolkit to root and install twrp and install a rom like cm10 or miui. Will I be able to just install this zip from my sd card and be back to stock and have my phone exactly as it was out of the box. Sorry if this sounds like a noob question, but ive had some bad luck getting back to stock and was incredibly lucky to get a replacement from amazon.

hi Billard:

I flashed the stock MA7 but forgot to flash the root file. Is there a way to root it again without losing and data/games and with the phone Status shows NORMAL?

Thanks

Thanks OP. I had no issues downloading and flashing. I am glad to have this phone back to stock for a warranty repair coming up soon. The best part is not losing any of my sdcard or extsdcard files!

Alright guys, I'm stuck. I had a rooted vanilla stock ROM LK8. The keyboard and multiwindow functionality didn't work as well as LJC so I decided to downgrade... or at least decided to attempt to.

I tried just flashing LJC via Odin, but that obviously won't work because of the sboot.bin (ma7 I'm guessing). Ok no problem... I used the toolkit to create a LJC flash WITHOUT sboot.bin. The phone accepted it, but I can't connect to the network (it's a great tablet like this, but I need phone capabilities). I only have the stock recovery (no TWRP or CWM). I tried using this walkthrough, but I'm really unfamiliar with how to go about it.

Here are the tools at my disposal.
SPH-L900 (obviously)
Stock recovery
Odin 3.07V
Galaxy Note II toolkit
root66_SPR_L900VPALJC.tar
COMBINATION_L900VPLJ1_L900VPALJ1_CL265523_HWID04_HW-Rev0406_user_low_ship.tar
SPH-L900_LK8_626403_Stock_Restore.exe
LJC_Stock_With_Count_Reset[FINAL].zip
ma7stock-w-count-reset.zip

I know amidst all this stuff I have, there is a solution here. I've tried repackaging sboot.bin, without it, etc. And yes, I've searched, but I'm still utterly lost. Could someone please help me as soon as possible? I kind of need my phone ASAP (but then again, who doesn't right?). Thanks in advance.

Edit: Ok... umm, riddle me this s*^t batman... it works. I simply tried the LJC flash I created with the latest sboot.bin again and this time it worked. This is the EXACT same flash I used 20 minutes ago and it didn't work then. I have no idea why it worked this time.

In any case, I'm bout to load up TWRP (finally) and get my phone set up and do a backup. Thanks everyone for reading and if anyone is in my situation again, I can explain what I did if necessary.

Need some help with this here.

I used the top file, did not stay rooted, but, my screens do not look anywhere near what they did out of the box.

None of them look anything like they did, and much of what was there on some of the screens is there now.

Did I use the wrong file?

What is the difference between MA7 and LJC?

Even the Weather and Time on the "main" screen do not look the same, and the Weather location will not update.

I've rooted before, first the Hero, then the Evo 3D, and I rooted this Note II but, it's been acting odd, so I wanted get back to stock before I went into Sprint to have them look at it.

Thanks.

OK. your note 2 is rooted. look like you dont have TWRP on it yet. go to twrp.com and get the TAR file for Sprint note 2. Install it to the phone through ODIN. When you have ODIN up, there should be only TWO options checked: Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time. Then click up PDA button and look for the TWRP tar file. Choose that file and click START. It should install the TWRP to your phone. Once it is there, put the MA7_stock-w-Counter-reset in your phone either external or internal. Now, reboot the phone to TWRP recovery and wipe/factory reset first. Then, install the MA7. It will bring you back stock rom. LJC is older 4.1.1. MA7 is newest 4.1.2.

Theres a odin flasable twrp in the op. Flash that in odin, boot straight to it, wipe, and flash a zip in the op. your fixed.

Thank you.

I did, however, figure it out.

The issue was in needing to add the required widgets to the screen that I wanted on there. I was expecting to "see" the phone "look" completely identical screen for screen like it did out of the box after flashing the MA7 file. When it did not, I got confused. After playing around with things, I found that I simply had to add the wanted widgets back where I wanted them.

Thanks for the assist!

Yeah, it's up and going perfectly again. Took a while to figure everything out, but it's all good. Once I got it working again, I followed the OP's instruction for LJC. My Odin flash did indeed work, but I kept getting the chameleon error and the phone would activate after every reboot. I'm going to keep that Odin flash for emergencies, because before I did that, I couldn't write/read to the memory and therefore couldn't load up TWRP recovery (was stuck with stock recovery).

Learned a great deal about all this stuff. Got far deeper than I ever wanted to get into rooting, but I think I have a solid handle on what I want and need. Thanks to the OP for this! It is much appreciated!

Now to figure out how to block the "software upgrade" prompt...

Did this for the Galaxy SIII and figured I would do the same for the Note II as well.
This will take your phone back to UNROOTED stock as well as restore the STOCK RECOVERY, STOCK KERNEL, MC2 RADIO and FIRMWARE. It Will also RESET THE FLASH COUNT to no (0) and restore the official binary and system status as well. If you have updated to MK4 officially and have the MK4 KNOX bootloader with the "knox warranty void" status in download mode, this will REMOVE but NOT RESET it. So this is still perfect for a trip to the sprint store. Does exactly what an odin flash would without needing a PC. And unlike odin this gives you the ability to downgrade flawlessly from ANY firmware version. This is the ONLY way to come back from the dreaded knox upgrade.

    NOW FOR THE INSTALL:

NOTE THAT FOR THIS TO BE POSSIBLE THIS MUST RUN COMMANDS THAT MOST ROM FLASHES DO NOT USE.
DUE TO THIS, USING GOO MANAGER AND ROM MANAGER TO INITIATE THE FLASH CAN CAUSE ISSUES. PLEASE MANUALLY BOOT TO RECOVERY AND START THE FLASH THERE.

As with most roms wipe data/factory reset prior to flashing!
I have always been a fan of clockworkmod recovery myself, but if using this I must recommend TWRP. On rare occurances, clockworkmod recovery has corrupted the cache partition when flashing this, causing issues with the second part of this restore. So use cwm at your own risk.
When finished you hit reboot as you would at the end of any rom flash but before the phone boots into the system it will automatically boot into my "special" version of TWRP and finish the process.(Which takes about 10 seconds).
When this is done you will be completely unrooted and back to square one with the exception of the internal sd card. (It will NOT be touched) So if you want to remain rooted then flash THIS (or click the little su guy below) after the restore zip before you reboot.

As far as I know there is only a 16gb version of the Note II for Sprint. If I'm wrong on that please correct me and note that this is ONLY TO BE USED ON A 16GB SPH-L900. This will most likely brick any other phone. And as always, FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK. As I am not responsible if this makes your phone melt. This flashes important partitions so verifying the md5 is recommended. Think that about covers it.

    Thanks @wwjoshdew for the vid!

Attached below is a flashable version of garwynn and EViL-KoNCEPTz chameleon fc/carrier fix and my special version of TWRP 2.4.2.0 with a /carrier wipe option for those who may need it. They are NOT required if using this restore.

Thanks for making this convenient return-to-stock zip and counter reset.

Just to verify, does your zip correct the problem with the carrier partition when reverting back to LJC after updating to LK8?
I was able to activate and update prl n profile but was still getting the chameleon force close if /carrier wasn't wiped before the flash. Seeing as how twrp doesn't have that option and most people prefer it over cwm, I am currently uploading a new version which will wipe the carrier partition too. With carrier wiped, coming back from lk8 was flawless

So I'm on MC2 stock unrooted, used Billards fix. Should I take the OTA to 4.3 then root and wait for rooted 4.4.2? I feel unnerved by taking 4.4.2 OTA and not be able to obtain root. Any thoughts?

    Thank you

Just take the Ota to 4.4. Then use Odin to flash your recovery of choice. In the recovery flash chainfires super su installer zip from the link above. Then flash the de-knox zip for 4.3. It's attached below if you don't have it. These are the steps I took and they worked great for me
