I find it no better for surfing the net, mailing, forums or work task than my netbook N510.
And also I find it no better than my smartphone (desire Z) for PIM related tasks.

So....
I actually realized that tablets is a dead end of evolution.
Nowhere better than already existing devices.

So for now I use it for... nothing apart from installing newer and newer apps to get this honeycomb to work.

Hopefully, when and if you get it rooted, you'll be a happier camper.

If anything its the net book that is the dead end. They provide less processing power than most modern tablets, use a clunky desktop OS that results in them running incredibly slow and having a battery life of under 4 hours and don't really offer anything you can't achieve with a tablet and remote access to a desktop. There's a reason tablets are the emergin market even as net books are being abandoned by manufacturers.

What app do you guys use/recommend for remote desktop? And free alternative, please?

I use mine for fb, browsing at night in bed (now, hehe), troubleshooting something (instant on and handy), casual gaming to keep me occupied, RSS feeds. Will use as movie player when travelling.

None of the above is true.

1. Processing power:
My old Samsung N510 with Nvidia Ion has much more processing power than newest motorolla xoom. It can run quite a modern games like Trine or Dead Space. Not mentioning that the never version of N510 with better CPU and GPU has been released lately.
The performance is nowhere close to slow. It runs smoothly up to 4 windows of opera fully filled with tabs, many of them with you tube. Word, exel, and Torrent client on bacground. And it just go like hell.
None of the nowadays tablets can do that.
Games like Nova are chunky and ugly. And none of the newest android games can be barely matched with Dead Space for example.

2. Net experience.
What I do now is using my N510 to write this post because there is to much text to type and most importantly because FORUMS performance of android based tablets is a horror in the day. You have to wait 2-3 seconds sometimes for characters you type to show on.
You wait for everything. For the virtual keyboard to show when you want to fill a field. and for the page to reload when you are just moving back to the previous one.
Web browsers offer is just a garbage. I wouldn't use any of them on my PC unless I would be forced to. Opera is a straight port from smartphones version. Mozzila is a pain in the ass. Maxtron works like dead elephant pulled by a pack of ants.
All of them have the same illnes of mooving the tabs up with the page so if you want to switch tabs zou have to run whole page up to do so.

So the www experience is just a bad imitation of a nice and smooth one from a netbook PC using for example an Opera Browser. AND IT DOES NOT USE GESTURES which would be obvious to do so in the firs place. Maxtron uses but it's sluggish and just do not work.
What's more tablet browsers haqve several problems with you tube or other embedded video (default browser forces me to use an external app like Quck Pictures to do so, and I cant surf while the video is downloading) and with animated gifs (it shows only a few frames not just a full stream).
None of the above is an issue on a netbook.

3. Battery time.
Yes this is quit an advantage but... N510 with a third party 7200 battery can work about 10 hours. This is just the amount of xoom working time. so...

So tell me in what subject is a tablet better than a good netbook?

Oh I've got one:
4. Multitouch DJ mixing emulation.
This is a big fun. Two plates some samples and a quit a nice emulation of a DJ mixing device. Big fun.
For a 1000$ quite expensive thou.

All that you listed I can do with my Xoom running ICS. Without any problem. But I am confident that someone will come and teach you a lesson and argue you with you, but I don't have the time to do that. Otherwise I could prove you wrong on every sentenc you wrote.

I looked at the market page for this. Looks like it's got a discount offer.. and it even streams fast enough to play 3D games?! WOW!

Remote Desktop Client is a bit too expensive for my tastes. $24 AUD

I have Xoom ICS too, and yes, I can do everything he listed. But did you even read his post? It wasn't about what it can do, it was about what it can do better.

It's just a fact: currently high-end netbooks > high-end tablets. I do think netbooks will be phased out eventually, but there's quite a few years left in them due to technology not being up to scratch on tablets.

    1. STEREO System (dock hooks to my HDMI in AMP 6 speakers) Sky FM and Google Music cloud
    2. Comics with ComicRack
    3. Composing Music - I use FourTracks and my fav. Caustic 2.0 both very nice apps can even export to midi so I can retouch/remaster with garageband. Then there is also this app called "Su-Preme MPA" an unbelievable fully functional MPC... Sampling beats on Xoom is HOooooot!
