Well, you can always make a backup and then restore via zune. The thing is the dumped OS is about 600Mb, the generated image is 378Mb. I don't know how it will reside on the flash, you could always check where the flash starts to get filled with zeros and clean it up before the first boot... If they had done it right and separated user data from the main OS we wouldn't have this problem...

INTEROP UNLOCK ACHIEVED!

Now time for a nice beeer ;)
I'll put mediafire to work and upload the image I just did. Everyone who has an unlocked bootloader: after you flash this to the phone, DO A HARD RESET, otherwise it will get stucked on 'Installing Applications'

ACE!! :D

Hi biktor_gj,

First, let me congratulate you. This is a very important achievement. I can only wish, it would work on all Lumia's. Unfortunately all recent devices, including the Lumia 900, that is just released, do not have the unlocked bootloader.

Interop Unlock is good for a few things; you can do unlimited side-loading. Especially with today's chevronwp7 announcement that the unlock-tokens will be revoked, this is very welcome. Also you can access drivers now.

In the past with driver access you got enough to do all further unlocking, because of elevated privileges of the drivers. Unfortunately, the drivers are more and more protected. With the current Nokia drivers it is still not possible to do further unlocking to run WP7 Root Tools for example.

So the ROM needs more patching. It is possible to modify the policy database or to modify binaries. If you can find policydb.vol and accountdb.vol in your rom, you can extract it and send it to me. I can probably patch it for you, so you can reintegrate it.

For people with NOKIA's with locked bootloader (NOKIA DLOAD device), like I have, I'm still working hard on finding exploits in the drivers. So I will continue that work.

Good luck with this and I hope you can find a solution to flash the old osbl to devices with locked bootloaders!

Ciao,
Heathcliff74

Edit: Did you alter all registry-values that are necessary to keep the device unlocked, like the produrl values, etc? This is important to keep all unlocks working.

Hey, first yes, I changed PortalUrlProd, PortalUrlInt, and LVMod. Strange enoguh, MaxUnsignedApps was already set to the correct value.
Don't get me wrong, Interop Unlock is good and all, but I just wanted to get this working to delete it from my task list and because I promised ultrashot I would try it. It worked like a charm, so now we'll get back to business.

I haven't given up on Nokia's Dload OSBL yet. I have two Lumia 800, one unlocked, and one locked, and my next try will be at crashing the locked bootloader and attempt to restore qualcomm's. Hopefully the fact that now we have interopunlock just makes it easier to test some other things inside windows phone, like access to the flash. If NCS really flashes the new bootloader before rebooting the phone like some people said somewhere on this thread, we should also be able to do the same some way, and maybe with InteropUnlock we can test some more stuff. This is just the beggining of the way ;)
Of course all this doesn't mean anything. Maybe it's impossible, but if there's a possibility of getting qualcomm's loader back I have the need of trying until I break both phones or until it works ;) At least we have a clean copy of the loader.
About those .vol files, on the OS dump I can only find mxip_notify. Is it something the OS does at first boot or something? can you tell me how to retrieve it so I can send it to you?

@beidl and @everyone asking for lumia 710 stuff: I have a private beta of OSBuilder, it's what let me recompile the rom without errors. Tomorrow morning I'll post a test firmware with interop unlocked for the 710, but I can't guarantee it'll work because I don't have anything to test it on, so you'll have to be the betatesters ;)
I can't provide the OSBuilder beta, because I don't have permission from the developers. If they're fine with it I don't have a problem either, but I'd be better off letting them release the final build when they think they're ready to do it

You just opened the way to custom ROMs on Lumias, well, for those with open bootloader, but, I hope you will be able to do it on every lumias available !

It's hard to say on which partition you should look. I don't have an unlocked bootloader to play with, so I'm in the dark regarding that.

Those .vol files are in rom on \Windows\ and at first boot they are copied to \Windows\Security. After that they are used from there. Every update and app install will modify the databases. So to have a clean copy, we need the one on rom from \Windows\. If that can be patched, you should restore it and hard-reset to use it. You should be able to find the files by dumping the rom partitions.

May I ask if you flashed a whole 15GB file back to your lumia, or only the ROM? As soon as the OSBuilder Version is released I'll try it with my RM-801 as well...

I already have started working on an Android compatible bootloader, and the bootloader itself boots, but I'm having trouble getting the display to start. Still, I can see the bootloader boots because it kicks into fastboot mode automatically.

The ROM isn't flashable. You need to have an unlocked bootloader and then connect to your Lumia while it is in 'Disk Mode' (detailed in first post) and then move the firmware on to the device.

For the people saying they will be buying a Lumia 800 now. Be careful! The ones you will find in the shop are already using the newer firmwares, flashed with the new bootloader and won't be able to do this!
Your best chance, at this stage, is probably buying a used one off eBay.

Most likely we will release new OSBuilder next week and post it in its thread :)

Shut down your lumia, press vol + and vol - together, plug into usb and see what's on device manager: if Nokia DNLOAD your bootloader is locked, if ask for format say no and you have unlocked one.

    Thank you mousey_!

PLEASE DO A FULL BACKUP OF THE NAND BEFORE PLAYING AROUND.
If you are developing fixes for the bootloader 'problem', feel free to grab a copy of the rest of partitions and stuff I posted over this thread here: http://www.mediafire.com/?kknt4lnc3tn7w

    INSTRUCTIONS:
Requires an unlocked bootloader (a.k.a. qualcomm development bootloader).
Easy to check: Turn the phone OFF, then press and hold VOLUME UP + POWER until you notice a short vibration. Plug in to the computer. If the phone turns up in disk mode (USB Mass Storage Device), then you have an unlocked bootloader. IF you're in Windows, it will ask if you want to format the disk. SAY NO OR IT WILL EXPLODE (it won't explode but you might break it)
If the device detected by the computer is Nokia DLOAD you have a locked bootloader and you're out of luck, at least for now.

I used 'dd' in Linux, I guess you can do it with Windows version too (http://www.chrysocome.net/dd) but it's more involved to find the appropiate partition:
    dd if=./os-new.nb of=/dev/sdX9
Where X is the disk detected by your linux distribution.
After that, you'll need to hard reset the phone. Hold Power button for 10 seconds to exit Qualcomm's disk mode, and press and hold POWER+VOLUMEDOWN+CAMERA until you feel the phone vibrate. After that, RELEASE power button but KEEP HOLDING volume down + camera for five or more seconds. This will trigger the hard reset.

Now time to play with bootloaders and try to get this to work for everyone!

I'd suggest renaming on of the colors. Would be great if it was possible to interop the phone without losing data.

    Hey everyone,

I was hoping to be able to crack Nokia's osbl, but time already run out and wasn't able to get it. So sorry, guys, but I had to return both Lumias. It's been a fun month, and at least I helped getting custom roms for at least some of you.

I'll be uploading here all the files I have on my computer so anyone can mirror them or use them for whatever you might need. If I can help you with something else (development related please) feel free to drop me a PM.

Once again big thank you to Ultrashot, Beidl, Xsacha, cdbase, ceesheim, HeathCliff & everyone that helped out with this. Now back to my (almost) forgotten Galaxy S2 & to try Boot 2 Gecko and see what progress has been done since the last time I checked :)

Btw, here is my DppImplant app.
Implants DPP partition with your stock Live Id to a custom rom.
    Usage:
    1) Put backup of the biggest partition to the folder with DppImplant.exe and call it "stock.nb"
    2) Put "os-new.nb" there - target firmware in which you want to see your old Live Id.
    3) Open DppImplant.exe. It will extract DPP from stock.nb and create mydpp.bin file. (After that you won't really need to have stock.nb in that folder).
    "os-new.nb" will be patched.
    4) Done.

P.S. if you open DPP using Notepad or any hex editor, you'll see saved Live Id.
    6
    Ok L710 fully unlocked :)
Those 2 parts are wrong. I used to narod.ru
