[Q] help with flashing

Hello everyone, well i just have few questions because really confused and i have search but cant really find anything that will clarify my problems.

I have a verizon galaxy s4 rooted version 4.3 is mk2, what i am trying to do is to flash a almost stock kitkat rom because i got the ota but i dont want to install it and it gets annoying popping every minute on my phone. I have try goomanager but i doesnt let me boot into recovery so idk if safetrap will give the same issue.

are this the steps i should take to flash a rom?

1. download safetrap
2. then install the scripts
3. try to go into recovery
4. backup my phone settings and apps
5. flash custom rom
6. restore backed up data
are this the correct steps
