Paired with HTC one on 4.3 GPe

Using another method i came across i was able to pair with HTC one, answer calls and use watch styler

1. Install Galaxy Gear APK manually

2. When Galaxy Gear App opens it tries to install 0/19 files it will restart and say 0/18

3. When it says 0/18, locate "GEAR" folder on SDCARD, inside it will create another APK. Manually install this apk.

4. Close Gear App and Repeat Process, i got all the way down to 0/8 (Music service apk fails) but the Gear is still usable for calls.

I done exact same process on nexus 4 but when trying to connect comes back connection failed..did you do anything when trying to pair..

Worked for me on HTC one. i dont know about nexus...

Hi, with both devices paired, can you originate a call from the phone? In my case the call originated by the phone goes to the galaxy gear... Instead of staying in the phone.

so which ones work perfectly (after using it a few days after) and which ones need more work? so does this mean all android phones once they are 4.3 will work with the gear?

No. Notification handling requires the new changes in 4.3. Other parts depend on touchwiz. Not to say this won't change in the future

Actually not true. Have found multiple ROMs that gear.apk will install fully. The ROMs have been a mash of 4.1.2, 4.2.2, and 4.3.

So far, everything works except s-voice ( tried a 4.3 ROM with s-voice/touch-wiz built-in) and the notifications are also sporadic.

I was able to install and use the gear manager on my Moto X using the instructions posted by the OP.

Well I was able to install most of the apps in the gear manager apk. Only music and some other I don't remember. Anyway I am on a stock phone with 4.2.2 rom and maybe that's why I have that issues. The normal case is: originate a call from the phone, the call should stay on the phone and not go to loudspeaker in the gear watch.

I am on Revolution HD 31, JB 4.3 based ROM, I can only use call function on the gear! Any tweaks? No notification works, i went up to installing 0/8

I got notification working with ATN notification so only thing needs to work is weather

I, too, have Revolution HD 31 installed but I can't get the music apk and weather apk to install. I can receive calls, find my device, transfer pictures, change clock face but that's basically all. When I try to access gear manager settings the app hangs and crashes on my HTC One. Trying to save a Voice memo from the watch also makes the app crash on my phone. Do you have S Voice working? I keep getting a notification on my gear saying that I have to accept the S Voice disclaimer on my mobile device even though I already did.

No, weather / music and S voice does not work, i am not sure if S voice functionality is integrated with Samsung ROMs. I have all notifications working though through ATN. I will try and install Touchwiz UI tonight and see if that makes any difference. Will report

1. Gear must be rooted.
2. Samsung or other android phone worked with Gear, also must be rooted.
3. Your phone must be rooted
4. Install root explorer.

Steps:
Samsung Phone:
1.Use samsung phone connect with Gear.
2.Install root explorer 
copy "/data/data/com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager/shared_prefs" to you "sdcard"
3.Connect to pc, copy all files in shared_prefs folder to your computer.

Gear:

2. Reboot.
3. Open bluetooth setting, turn on search visibility

Your phone  :
1. Open bluetooth settings, search and pair with your gear.
2. Install Gear Manager apk, ver 1.2
3. Copy samsung phone's shared_prefs files to your your phone  same folder.(/data/data/com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager/shared_prefs)
4. Run gear manager.
