[Q] Subsidy unlock code from AT&T - device not even in their database?
Just wanted to ask has anyone else with an Atrix HD ever contacted AT&T to ask for the subsidy unlock code and been told the device doesn't even exist in their database with the IMEI code the phone actually shows?
I got an Atrix HD just yesterday, it's an insurance/warranty replacement phone that the owner simply had no use for because he moved on to another device (but is still with AT&T). I asked a friend of mine with AT&T service to call that 800-331-0500 number and provide the IMEI of this device to see about getting the subsidy code and was told "we can't find that device in our system" so I'm kinda wondering just what the hell is going on now.
The "box" the phone was in (along with the manuals and USB charger/cable) has a sticker that plainly denotes it as a refurb which is expected, but if they're disallowing someone to subsidy unlock it - and the Atrix HD was on the market long before that silly law went into effect earlier this year in January - because of something it sure would be interesting to discover exactly what that reason is or why they're saying this device can't be found in their system.
I was going to use an eBay subsidy code provider but I'm glad I decided to go this other route, that would have apparently been a waste of money (that I might not have been able to get refunded).
Anyone have any experience with this sort of situation at all? I'd appreciate most any info if you have some to share, thanks.
