Hello Community!
I am hoping that someone can help set my mind at ease. I use to be with AT&T with a Touch Pro 2. At that time I was a rom addict and flashed a new rom about every 1-2 weeks. Upon moving to Sprint I was sad to see there was no development for the Arrive. WooHoo!!! Now there is and thank you for all involved.
I have so far read everything in the forum and one post stood out to me as I have not seen any comments on it. The post is quoted below. I remember when I started researching months ago that there was a Chevron unlock, and then it got removed or something... But I don't know all the facts.
I have everything downloaded and ready to go and the plan was to flash today, but if I can pose a question to the forum, why not. I think honestly maybe I just need someone to put this in to context. By the way, I just got a replacement phone through my warranty, so I have not yet updated to Mango. My Bootloader is still 1.25.230506.1(118490). So my questions are these.
1) Does the quoted post below and the need for U2M8107_v1.2.xap mean anything with regards to possible bricking, and what benefit would I see from doing a developers unlock, or once you do the hspl, is the phone just unlocked?
2) I see that some are having data errors, even on the DFT Rom. Has this been troublesome enough for some, that they wish they had not done the flashing?

3) How do you know if you have to downgrade your SPL using RUU_Gold_C_Sprint_WWE_1.29.563.02_Radio_1.51.00.01_23.12W.05.06U_NoDo_Signed_by_ansar. My CURRENT VERSION OF SPL is: 1.25.230506.1(118490)
Thanks in advance for any guidance. Time to flash: T-?(but hopefully today)

The Arrive has nothing to do with the old Chevron Unlock. That was for phones that were able to use the old first release roms pre NoDo. Since the Arrive only comes with NoDo out of the box, the only way to unlock was to get an official Chevron Unlock (Which is now dead) or a AppHub account.
The HSPL unlocks the bootloader that allows flashing of unofficial roms like Asnar, DFT, Lead Rom, etc. It has nothing to do with a "Chevron Unlock" as that is the software unlock within the rom itself (to allow sideloading, registry edit, etc). Almost all custom roms that you flash to your phone here are already fully unlocked so any 3rd party .xap that says it needs to be Interop unlocked or anything of the sort, will work just fine on these unlocked roms since it is already done. The only warning is flashing the correct rom to your phone. It may/may not brick your phone if you do flash the wrong rom (the GOLD is the HTC 7 Pro (GSM) while the GOLD_C is the ARRIVE (CDMA)). It almost sounds like you flashed a GSM one with the problems you are having now. Just do like I say below, redownload a GOLD_C Rom, flash that, and all should be hunkey dorry.
Since it looks like you got the HSPL installed and flashed Asnar's rom, there isn't anything else you have to do. Future updates should not break the phone, but at the same time, more than likely there will be updated custom roms that have the next update before it officially is released.
To fix the issues you are having now, I would say redownload and install the "8337 Tango V1" with the language pack of your choice (there are 3 download links, they are the same rom but with different language packs, thats all.) then flash the rom again.
I am currently running the same rom and have no issues what so ever. You might want to tweek a few registry settings (I don't like what he did with the search button) but besides that, the rom is more solid then the first DFT rom.
You may also want to check out
Lead Rom as it is made and tested by someone who actually has a CDMA Arrive.
