@stratosk: Thank you for the kernel and for your work. I'm on Darky but with semaphore. It's perfect!

Not every phone's hardware can handle OCing to 1.2. Also the hardware can degrade over the time if a lot OC/OV is done. Devices that once were able to go for high frequencies can become unstable after some time. That's the risk of OCing everybody should be aware of.

Just want to say a huge thanks for a great kernel!

Having updated my phone to 2.3.5 xxjvt via kies I was becoming increasingly frustrated with the lag/FC reboot issues so decided to do something about it!

As a relative noob to flashing etc etc I wanted something fairly straight forward and more importantly something that actually worked!

I did a bit of research and kept coming to semaphore kernel so went for it - converted to ext-4, applied phone FC fix and all has been great ever since. I did have one bootloop issue but that was me messing with overclocking and phone didn't like it, luckily I'd made a backup in CWM earlier in the day. (phew)

For any others following this thread as I did for a few days before having the courage to flash I'd say do it! You wont regret it!!

I do have a question though (probably a stupid one) - I'd like to update to the latest version 1.9.0, do I need to revert back to RFS or can I flash the update while on ext-4??

Thanks again Statosk please keep up the awesome work

Thanks for your reply betoNL, seems like I the only one troubling with OC 1.2. I have tried many options but had random reboot and freeze. Most annoying one was without OC and SIO,phone rebooting during an important call.

Now I start deleting some apps I suspect related to SIP. Lets see.

One request to people using OC or SIO, please share your kernel configuration.

Some phones are tougher to overclock than others...mine for instance is one of those...

The only way I can overclock my phone is with a kernel with 6 frequencies.

Then I use Tegrak overclock ultimate to oc , undervolt and OVERvolt in order to keep it stable.

With the latest Semaphore kernel my phone is smooth and energy efficient enough so no need to OC/UV

But if you think you still need to fry your phone, just go back to the version that allows more frying ....

Or ask Stratosk for a version with 6 frequencies....than I will have a OC/UV/OV guide for a tough to overclock sgs , ready to use and tested....

I tend to be agree with this,
Actually, you don't really need to OC the SGS, it works pretty well without OC for most of uses. I think you can even UC to 800Mhz it if you don't play heavy games, you loose a little of reactivity but it's still usable. Semaphore is very efficient and the phone is very responsive even at normal speed.

Hm, I think this is not enough. Think before flashing the folder /cfroot needs to be deleted to trigger a new copy process of the app to /system/app.

Right?
I can be wrong though...

Thanks
Andi

I'm not sure because when you flash semaphore it updates the app even if you had it before without having to do anything, so it should install it, but i didn't try.

Kernel uses a flag file (in /system/cfroot directory) to check the first installation.
If the file exists then it skips the installation process.

So, deleting cfroot directory will trigger the installation process again.

Mobile AP Error

Hi just flashed Semaphore JVT_1.9.0 kernel together with the stock 2.3.5 JVT.

Now i recognized that the mobile AP function shows me "error" when i enable it. Connection via WLAN works but no internet access.

Is there someone with the same issue and has a fix for it?

@ stratosk ,please make a kernel based on xfjva kernel..I know we can use jvt kernel for jva rom..but the jvt sem kernel has issues regarding black colour(reverting back to cf kernel immediately fixes the problem).it is also much less brighter..speedmod fixes it to a limit. but please releasw one based on jva

Enable netfilter option in semaphore apk.

This is a kernel rebuilt from the latest updated gingerbread sources and based on the CF-Root kernel (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=788108).

    Features

    - Voodoo Sound v10
    - Voodoo Color
    - OC/UV (1200MHz, 1300MHz)
    - BLN
    - CWM v5.0.2.7
    - Speedmod color fix
    - Patched with the latest Samsung kernel sources.
    - JVU initramfs
    - compiled with Linaro GCC 4.6.2 toolchain
    - O3 and other compiler optimizations
    - 337 MB available RAM (353 bigmem versions - it breaks 720 video recording)
    - Auto brightness driver
    - Reworked cpufreq driver. cpu states 100-200-400-800-1000/1200/1300.
    - Bundled with Semaphore Script Manager to v0.62
    - su binary v3.0.3.2
    - Governor ondemand (default)
    - ondemand: sampling_down_factor tunable by momentum
    - Governor conservative (module)
    - Governor smartassV2 (module)
    - Noop I/O scheduler (default)
    - Deadline I/O Scheduler (module)
    - Simple I/O Scheduler (module)
    - Netfilter (iptables) as modules
    - CIFS as module
    - TUN as module
    - Logcat disabled (as module only)
    - cpufreq statistics as module (is loaded by default)
    - Standard network packet scheduler
    - Kernel log buffer size 4KB (from 128KB)
    - deleting boot sounds procedure creates backup on /data/local
    - Battery polling to 60 seconds
    - jhash3
    - No debug info
    - TinyRCU
    - HZ=256
    - CPU frequency on stock music player when screen off to 400 MHz
    - /system/etc/init.d directory creation if not exist
    - Custom boot animation
    - HM.Cardide's Addon scripts.
    - VM dirty chainfire's tweak as script
    - Kernel scheduler tweak as script
    - noatime chainfire's tweak by default
    - OC test scripts to 1200MHz, 1300MHz (Script Manager)
    - enabled /proc/config.gz
    - bootloop detection (clears init.d directory, if the phone does not complete 2 minutes of normal operation)
    - Script to change /cache to virtual 50MB (in case you want to download apps > 30MB from Market)
Make sure to disable this option before convert to ext4. You may enable this after the conversion

In order to control voodoo sound and color and BLN you have to download Voodoo Control and BLN control applications respectively from android market.
The max CPU frequency is by default 1Ghz.
You may use applications like Voltage Control to control UV.

In order to load various modules of the kernel and enable or disable features use HM.Carbide's Semaphore Script Manager application. It automatically copies and runs the respective scripts from /res/scripts to /system/etc/init.d directory. The scripts:

    - S05enable_oc_1000_default (disable overclocking)
    - S05enable_oc_1200 (enable overclocking to 1200MHz)
    - S05enable_oc_1300 (enable overclocking to 1300MHz)
