How to root a ZTE 中兴 Grand Memo U5
Hi - complete noob on Android here (bit of knowledge on Linux though). Hoped to chime in with a method of rooting that I found on the Chinese forums for the ZTE 中兴 Grand Memo U5.
Found this over at : h t t p : //bbs.gfan.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=6197913&extra=page=1
There is more detail there.
(FYI I am using Windows 8.)
You only need one piece of software which is the ZTE GRAND MEMO N5 ROOT.
All you need to do is
*Go to Settings>System>Developer Options and click USB Debugging (and linux adb, I think).
*Connect your phone to your PC via USB.
*Download and extract the attached zip, extract ZTE GRAND MEMO N5 ROOT.exe and run.
*Install the drivers on your PC (1)
*Continue or rerun the ZTE GRAND MEMO N5 ROOT.exe (2)
（1）The first time this should open up a CD folder, via some kind of emulator. If it doesn't autorun, click on the Install or Autorun inside the disk/folder. This will install the ZTE device management software called JoinMe and also all the drivers for the phone to be controlled by the computer.
（2）The program should now go on to root the phone for you. (I found the program got stuck at this point and I had to re-run it - but it totally worked on the second run). You will see it say "success!" a couple of times. Wait for a few mins, hit any key and the program will exit and restart your phone.
Now you should find that you have root access.
I used Total Commander to access and edit Root files after that.
