This is a simple way to increase your wifi signal strength.
By default the power settings on wifi are set to 7 (out of 10) because the wifi is set to power save mode.
To change this
Go to the dialer pad and type
In
*#0011#
This will open up the service menu.
Now hit the menu key on your GS3 and select wifi.
You'll see the power save mode enabled.
Simply click it to disable it
And now your wifi Will be at full power.

You should notice a difference right away this will not bring a huge increase but it will increase your signal.

Note: if you type in the code and isn't working you need this hidden menu http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2159054

Well its called "power save" so I'm sure battery life will be affected a little at full power.

I do too. 7000mah gives 9 to 10 hours screen time. Lasts 3 days heavy use.
That's what made me search for the answer . I think the battery blocks the wifi signal some. This fixed it and I really don't see much of a battery difference in the usage stats.

I have a 4500 mAh but I didn't see much of a change honestly.

If im not mistakin, power save mode saves power by turning off your wifi when the screen shuts off. This could be usefull for some, but will also drain your battery quicker. I believe it is the same thing that you can achieve by using an app like spare parts.I dont think it actually effects the speeds or anything of wifi while the screen is on. I could be wrong though :D

It did make a noticeable difference to mine. Also I believe there is a separate setting for the wifi time on in normal wifi settings. This is the signal power save mode.

Is there any way to keep it disabled through a reboot? Everytime I do a reboot I have to go through the process again.
Thanks

Think my signal has gotten worse honestly. Not sure if the extended batt has anything to do w/ it though. I have the zerolemon 7000

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'd like to try this in my office where the signal is weak at best. The dialer portion though is not working. I'm I missing something? I am rooted but not on stock ROM so I'm wondering if that is what is making the difference.

Thanks!!!!

So how would you flash this on cm11?

Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

You can't flash it, it's a dialer code, it only works on TouchWiz.

    I tried this on my Sprint GS3 - 4.4.2 - Rooted

Works great and stuck through reboot with no other changes!

    Thanks!!!!

I can also confirm this works on TW 4.4.2 Rooted and sticks after a reboot.

No, because CM doesn't support dialer codes
