Hi, can someone tell me if I can get the original kernel of an ARC Xperia S

If you do not have the kernel alone, it is possible to recover the kernel installed again the original FW version 4.0.2.A.0.42

thanks

u can extract original kernel from the FTF file... open it using 7zip, the original kernel is kernel.sin...

Can anyone point me to a compiled .58 kernel (kernel.sin or boot.img)?
Or a stock FTF .42/.58?

I've looked and I can't find it.

Thanks :)

get the kernel.sin from the FTF... then use the kernel.sin unpacker i posted in another thread...

kindly search the threads...

search for unpackbootimg.pl

ok i got this files now :
boot.img-kernel.gz
boot.img-ramdisk.cpio.gz

I used this command : perl unpack-bootimg.pl boot.img

EDIT: ok so i used this
Code:
rafayel-VirtualBox Lk # find . | cpio --quiet -H newc -o | gzip > ramdisk.img
cpio: File ./ramdisk.img grew, 211681280 new bytes not copied
the ramdisk.img is 478mb large is this normal?

and after doing : mkbootimg --base 0x00200000 --kernel kernel/arch/arm/boot/zImage --ramdisk ramdisk.img -o boot.img
i get this : mkbootimg: command not found

ramdisks are hardly 1 to 5 MB..

may be ur commands are going wrong somewhere... search on xda for those binaries...

    hello guys,

i have pushed the Official kernel sources and ramdisks for various Xperia 2011 devices to my github account... to keep the various FW versions at same place i have created branches for each kernel/ramdisk... i think this will help other dev/advance users as they can now easily get all relevant files at one place and easily compare changes in firmware sources...

    Xperia-2011-Official-Kernel-Sources
    (INCLUDES THESE FW VERSIONS)

    Xperia-2011-Official-Ramdisks
    (INCLUDES THESE FW VERSIONS)

i will try my best to keep those sources updated
