By crackling do you mean like the cord rubbing against your body or your movement shifting the plug in the phone making audio cut out and crackle? Try moving around the plug with your fingers and seeing if it does it. I know mine has an issue where the plug wobbles and audio cuts out, but I haven't gotten around to RMAing yet.
