I use Tasker allot to turn things on / off automatically and to replace several single use utilities whenever possible (toggle autosync at intervals as mentioned, turn off wifi when I'm away from home, replace widgets, etc.). Root Uninstaller and Autostarts make a good combo for removing / controlling unwanted crap that eats battery (for me Facebook / Twitter / Stocks / Weather and associated widgets). Also, when I do use widgets, I look for multi-use ones, like Advanced Clock Widget (below... I've got allot of functionality crammed into 4x1!). I've also used SetCPU (192 > 1404 ondemand). Also calibrate the battery after I've settled on a rom.
Definitely need the AOSP calendar on there. I always just pull the calendar.apk and calendarprovider.apk from the CM9 zip and push them via root browser and it works flawlessly. Just a suggestion.

My wife had that problem on her mt4gs with a full aosp Rom. The way to stop it was to open your dialer and it would stop. Try typing a few numbers in like your making a call.
No clue what to tell you for the restart problem. Maybe try wiping dev. And cache.

+1 ......... Yup - all is well now, THANKS+1. Copied just HtcSoundSetDownloadManager.apk to /system/app, set permissions, reboot. Works.

This is now the best of the 4 ROMs I've tried during the last week. It's stable, not flakey, and the battery is great. As suggested, I've turned off autosync (actually I have Tasker turn it on for 5 minutes 3x during the day) and I can easily get a full 12 hour day with moderate to heavy use.
Thanks Eclipze!
Edit: I should add that I used Super Wipe from the Revolution thread and reinstalled everything from scratch.

I moved it to system/app. How do I change permissions? Nevermind I figured it out. But it didn't work for me I still cannot set ringtones or notifications. What should I set permissions to?

Just curious what camera is in the ROM, the Panorama pics come out horrible distorted, everything else seems great though
I went outside to test after reading this post, panorama comes out Perfectly Clear for me
