Yes, use Revotoolkit to install recovery. After installing, hit the check recovery version, it should be 4.0.0.2 or something like that. Then reboot into recovery.

Use that, reboot to cwm make a backup of stock for insurance then follow his instructions. Should hold cwm after gingervolt

I'm confused on this process... so we need to go back to day 1 and remove CWR and the whole 9 yards to grab this? Please tell me the process doesn't involve playing with tot files?

if you were a good boy and have a factory stock rooted CWM backup, then you don't have to... if you don't have one of these, then it seems as if you would... although you may be able to grab cubed's stock factory rooted rom that I think is floating around in a thread... maybe

No .tot needed. Just need to grab the stocked rooted backup off the forums from cubed. Restore that, wipe data, uninstall cwm pull both updates wipe data, and internal for safe measure, then reroot using mt's root method. He has everything you need in his post.

No its not that bad. Tomorrow I will make a return to stock zip to flash through cwm, then install stock recovery with revotoolkit, then update. Shouldn't be too bad after tomorrow.

You get a nice fancy paperweight :) worst case of course. 2 people have tried to go from V4 to this. Me from Revolt1.5 I bricked and never made it into the ROM itself and Beamer made it in from stock V4 and then had lots of reboots

I have never heard of an Android phone being bricked, unfixably. So your saying doing that could permanently brick my phone?

A working method hasn't been figured out yet to go straight from revolt to gingervolt. Whole bunch of soft bricks from trying.

I have backups going all the way back, but I wouldn't have one of stock recovery (making a backup of a recovery with a recovery that wasn't installed would be hard). I was involved in the original piecing together of CWR, so I have all the original partitions, but some of those copies caused bricks, and I'm not sure which ones :O

Soft brick restoring to Revolt fixes it.

Just pull the cubes stock restore. Also, I installed revo toolkit and go the stock recovery from there.

Oldest backup I have is on decrapped rom.

I've been Revolted!

Same as with majorpay

Only think is the cubes stock restore doesn't have everything. I wiped data and cache and dalvik and it booted right up. I installed revo toolkit and go the stock recovery from there. the pulled the OTA updates. When rerooting I wiped data and the internal storage went right through once I got the right drivers.

Just to give an update guys, I have finally begun working on zv8 last night! I was in the middle of another project but finished it up now! I will be heading to the mountains for the weekend with family but I'm sure I will get some work in there, just no internet access lol. The other project has helped me learn a bit more and I will be able to apply it here!

Hello all!!! After a long 3 months, GingerVolt 2.0 is here!!!! There were MANY changes and things that I played with to get things how I liked them. Honestly, I put in the Change Log what I remembered, and will add to it as I remember the rest lol.

It is recommended to install after a complete wipe, as some apps were updated, and some were removed. I don't want to here any complaints about things force closing, battery is being drained, etc, unless a data wipe has been done. I also do not recommend using TB, etc as it can restore bad data. That is just me, and my opinions on it. Hope you enjoy!!!

P.s.: Over the last 3 days, my battery life has been AMAZING!!! They were 16hrs, 17hrs, and 22hrs. Results may vary, but that is what I have gotten.

    OP updated with 1.3

Themes for 1.2 will work just fine on 1.3!!!
