I googled xposed as I didn't know what it was and it looks like its part of the framework, the part that controls the per app DPI???

So I'm thinking about installing the incremental update of the newest nightly, but am wondering if I should just dirty flash the whole new nightly instead to make sure everything flashed successfully? Thanks

Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

Yeah it's the framework for the per app DPI and I didn't get that error anymore after a full wipe so I don't know if dirty flashing would help but might as well try it.

Re: [ROM][4.2.1] RootBox Non-development | Discussion | Support [d2att/2tmo/d2vzw]

Im not a devolper so of coarse I don't know whats devolpment and not devolopment. I should post the stuff thats broken so you can fix it. Figured thats how this forum runs. *shrug* worked for last 2 years but I keep seeing threads shut down its weird.. must be a S3 thing more "sensitive" people buy them or something...

anyways same question basicly tthe same thread..... now were all in one place yaaaa!

Did a fresh lean install and reinstalled apps and all the same problems are back. Now I have two home installers. Trebulet and Nova. Every time I restart I have to repick nova. If I do a backup my apps randomly disiaper. If I wipe cache or dalvik all my settings (any rom options I made go bad)

Here is another weird one after a fresh clean install I swear some stuff from the flash before I wiped (settings) manasged to transfer over though I could be wrong hard to tell I don't flash a ton or anything. Anyways So Its either a rom issue, or a phone issue. I dunno maybe my phone is messed up or I even though I leave phone pluged into computer all day could be my computer? Maybe when I do Registy cleaner or something some how it hits my phone (a bit out there I know) But I just want a stable rom trying figure this out.... I dunno whats left try because clearly other people iwth my make and model who were nice enough to pm me with some helpfull advise have 0 issues... dunno maybe its bad luck..

welll any thoughts be great... I don't get why some apps download fine others go poof after a restart... could this be cause by 0folder crap I hear aorund the forums? I don't have a sddisk0 anymore its usbdisk0 is that normal? maybe market saving aps to wrong place half time? Saving it to part sd card that gets wiped because thats what it seems like even when I do a operation that shouldn't touch my apps at all they poof and my settings

Rom settings and Apps are in different places ? correct? so hows that happen

Could be sabotage.............

On a side note isn't there a private forum for strictly developmental stuff? Maybe someone should tell creator to make a thread there. I never even been in that forum lol...
whats it look like?

Lol discussion should be done in discussion threads.... And if u THINK something is wrong u should post it here to see if you're the only one with that issue... Or if its even a rom issue and not an app issue or user error. And if u were the only one, which I think u are because I haven't experienced or read any similar issues, ur post would be pointless for anyone other than urself in turn cluttering a thread that is for development purposes. I wouldn't tell devs to post in the RD section either... Not if u still want the devs to share their work with u.

Any time u use an app to restore backed up apps u risk a chance of bugs. Most of your post is impossible to understand due to poor grammar, sarcastic attitude and terrible spelling so idk if anyone will be able to help u.

U should always freshly install apps from play store though... It takes longer but its cleaner and prevents bugs. Its not a ROM issue though

Good luck

Xposed framework needs to be installed first before you can use DPI settings. Its under Modules Management in settings. Cant speak for the dirty flash part. I always start fresh

Thanks. I haven't messed with the per app DPI yet so that may be why I was the only one getting that message when I posted a screenshot of. I installed it and rebooted. I uninstalled an app to check and no more message. Thanks again

So looks like I found a bug.... Flashed the 1/28 nightly and "phone" is no longer in the app drawer. Thought it was a bad flash so I flashed again and still no phone.

Same here... and yes, it appears in system/app and in the 1/28 ROM zip. Can't seem to add it back to the home screen though.

Did either of you flash the inverted zip package made by Justin860 or any inverted apps for that matter? That may be the source of the problem.

D2ATT. Yes the apk is in system/app, but not in the app drawer. Permissions look like they are correct.

Yes, but I've been doing that from the beginning with this ROM. Did something change in 1/28 that breaks those inverted gapps? I'm going to reflash the ROM, flash gapps, reboot then flash inverted gapps minus Contacts and see what it does.

Choose Phone Network?

I need to be able to choose what phone network, i.e. AT&T, when I'm on the Texas/Mexico border, and the strong Mexican towers keep 'grabbing' my connection. In the stock ROM, if you go to
Wireless andNetwork>More Settings>Mobile Netwoks>Network Operators>
you will find 'Default Setup' grayed out, and no way to select what network operator you want to connect to.

In Rootbox, is it also grayed out, or can you choose what 'local' network you want to connect to?
thanks,
jf

Just don't flash inverted gapps. I already mentioned this before, if you flash inverted gapps, you won't get support in here.

Understood, but at the time it wasn't known that they were the issue.

I've just confirmed that flashing inverted Contacts from the JustunBean 6.2 package does break Phone.apk. I flashed everything from that package that I usually do, this time minus Contacts, and everything works fine.

Thanks for the suggestion that they might be to blame.

This happened to me before on an old d2tmo aokp nightly build from KAsp3rd... It would be in system/app and permissions would be set but phone wouldn't appear. I remember trying everything like deleting it and reinstalling a working one from a previous build but that didn't work either. Next build had it fixed. Maybe he can shed some light for the root box devs if its not the inverted apps package that's doing it

I'll give a proper explanation later on why it's not suggested to flash inverted apps.. Once I get home.

I have always used his inverted GAPPS but I never pick contacts and have never had an issue.

Like bajee said, don't expect support when flashing inverted gapps.

That being said, Justin said the AOKP and CM contacts buttons are swapped. If you press AOKP, it breaks phone. If you use CM, you don't break it. This build did switch. It used to be the other way around.

Personally, I like the inverted look but have yet to find a proper theme that does it without changing icons. Either way, I know the risks involved with flashing anything to my phone. I also know that if I have an issue, revert back to the stock ROM and go from there to troubleshoot.

On that note, the Bluetooth issue I reported earlier was while running only the ROM and official gapps before the wrong idea is had.

    Known Issues

    Inverted APPS

First of all, I would like to say that flashing inverted GAPPS is fully acceptable and it won't break anything. The issue is, some inverted gapps "devs" don't stop at inverting GAPPS. They go beyond this scope and also include other apps such as Phone, Contacts, Mms etc..

These system apps (Phone, Contacts, Mms etc...) Are built from source every time we build a rom and it does happen that we make several changes to them which makes them SPECIFIC to the rom you use. In the case of RootBox Mms, Phone, Camera and ROMControl are built with specific merges that other roms might not have. So what happens when you flash Inverted APPS? You're basically using an outdated/not fully compatible app with RootBox and you might even be missing some features. This is why I do not support anyone using inverted APPS.

    A
    Alarm
How can I disable alarm icon?

    • You can enable/disable alarm icon in statusbar in Clock > Settings.
    • You can enable/disable next alarm information on Chronus widget in RootBox Settings > Chronus > Clock and alarm.

    B
    Battery
How can I save my battery? (Without flashing anything or undervolt kernel)

    • You can check all apps/functions which sync in background like GPS, Wlan or Social accounts (If not needed = disable)
    • Set the Brightness down (Settings > Display > Brightness)
    • Use dark (best black) theme & wallpaper & lockscreenwallpaper

    C
    Chronus
How can I place Chronus on lockscreen?

    Look into Lockscreen section below.

    Where do I configure Chronus?

RootBox Settings > Chronus. There you can configure Clock + Weather + Calendar settings. Note that all these settings apply to both homescreen and lockscreen Chronus widget.

How can I change color of Chronus widget?

You cannot ATM. You can only change color of standard clock. Or you can use theme which changes color of Chronus, e.g. Hue themes by Kroz.

    D
    DPI
    How can I customize DPI?

There are basically two ways to do so.
    1. Change overall system DPI
You can change overall system DPI by editing build.prop system file. We do not recommend to do that manually.
Use some user-friendly app from Play store, e.g. Texdroider. But remember that you have to use multidpi playstore then to be able to install other apps without problems.
    2. Change per-app DPI
You can use Per-App Settings integrated into this ROM:

First, all credits associate to Xposed Frameworks and Modules goes to Rovo89 for sharing his work and making it open source for everyone. You guys should all buy him a beer.

      Steps to follow:
      1) Install Xposed Frameworks by going in Modules Management>Install/Update
      2) Enable Per-App Settings by going in Modules Management> Modules>Tick RootBox Per-App Settings (You should reboot your phone at this point)
      3) Setup your phone : Per-App Settings>Choose your app>Set DPI/Resolution/Tablet UI/Language> Press Save on top
      4) Your app should now display in your preferred settings. If it doesnt, kill the app and restart it or reboot phone.

My device isn’t supported in playstore after changing DPI

You have to use the MultiDPI-Playstore here from URL="http://xdaforums.com/member.php?u=4534385"] “MyLifeRocks10”:
    => http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1839871

    6. Recovery > wipe cache partition
    7. Recovery > advanced > wipe dalvik cache
    8. Reboot and you are done!

    G
    GAPPS
Do I have to flash GAPPS with ROM?

    Yes.

What version of GAPPS should I download?

Currently you need GAPPS 20121212 for RootBox version >3.2 based on Android 4.2.1. If you for any reason want to install RootBox based on Android 4.1.2, i.e. version 3.2 and lower, install GAPPS 20121011. You can check here for latest GAPPS for different Android versions: http://goo.im/gapps.

    L
    Lockscreen
How do I get shortcuts on my lockscreen?

    RootBox Settings > Shortcuts.

How do I put Chronus on my lockscreen instead of standard clock?

You have to drag clock on lockscreen. It will allow you to remove it. Then you can add Chronus or any other widget instead.

How do I make Chronus show my Weather and Calendar on lockscreen?

Rom Control > Lockscreen > Minimize Lockscreen Challenge.

How do I unlock faster when Minimize Lockscreen Challenge is enabled?

Rom Control > Lockscreen > Enable longpress to unlock.

    N
    NavBar
How do I change NavBar Color?

    Hybrid Settings>Interface> NavBar Color .

How do I enable NavBar transparency?

Rom Control>GeneralUI>Statusbar and navigation bar opacity.

    Nightlies
What is Nightly? Should I flash Nightly or latest Stable version?

There is no major difference. Nightlies are "unofficial" builds that are built almost everyday for everyone to try builds with the latest sources merged to RootBox. For noobs/average user, this is not necessary because they live in a bubble where they feel more comfortable flashing an "official" release than a nightly, but at the end, it all breaks down to just a differentiation of name. So if you don't know what a nightly is, don't flash it and don't bother asking.

    S
    Statusbar
How do I enable Status Bar transparency?

Rom Control>GeneralUI>Statusbar and navigation bar opacity.

What is fast toggle in Status Bar Toggles?

This will allow you to swipe from the right or left side of your statusbar (depending on what you choose) and it will go to your quick settings bypassing any notifications.

They won't build until bajee is done merging stuff it's been like this for a week. He's purposely not allowing them to build

I'm not purposely breaking builds. I just don't have the time to finish merging what I started since I'm in the middle of examination period in university. You have a funny way of describing the situation as if I didn't want you guys to build.

I just sync and build, don't know much about bug fixing though :( that's Bajee's expertise :)

I'll fix it tomorrow after my exam. Latest should be sunday.

Thanks for taking on building for us! Do you have any plans for d2tmo?

Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

I can compile for tmo tomorrow as well. Heck for now until Bajee comes back i'll compile for d2vzw, d2att, and d2tmo :) I will NOT be cherry picking anything into them, it'll be whatever comes from Bajee's repo.
    11
Anyone else notice Noba and Pie settings are not buddys? Messed with my settings for sure (Can turn them all off) but hmm whats the point of pie settings? its slick and cool ya but ... whats the point? just to use expanded desktop right? isn't that sorta like nav bar? cracked out

Then don't use it dude. I've seen you post everywhere, and all you do is comment about how things are useless/broken/bad or not working for you with every rom. If you think it's the same thing as navbar+navbar ring, then use that instead. That's why there's always options to turn things off.
