Hello, I need some help...
I found a tutorial of how to root your phone without increasing flash counter, but it require to download a rom from samsung official site.
I didn't buy my phone from a carrier and i don't know which firmware to choose.
My phone was unlocked and it has I8160XXLK6 firmware, and I brought it from Romania.
I am failing between steps 5) and 6). I'm back in recovery mode, but it only says:5) Turn off the phone again and enter to recovery mode (“Vol Up + Home + Power”).
6) Select “apply update from sdcard” and choose update_su.zip file
7) Reboot the phone
8) Rooting Successful
I am failing between steps 5) and 6). I'm back in recovery mode, but it only says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I8160
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
Downloading...
Do not turn off target !!
There is no option for "apply update from sdcard". Should the cable be connected, or not? The instructions don't say. I get this same screen whether or not the cable is connected to the PC running Odin. The update_su.zip file is in /mnt/sdcard.
I have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 with NFC (I8160P), and I want to ask if the rooting instructions from this topic apply also to the NFC version ?
Thanks in advance.
Before you begin rooting you must keep this in mind that “Rooting will void your warranty”
Important note: Do not disturb the process i.e remove the battery etc.
Important Note: Make sure that battery is atleast 85% as preventive measures
Instruction:
1) Download and install SAMSUNG USB Drivers for Mobile Phones
(You may install Samsung KIES for this) – LINK
2) Copy update_su.zip to internal sdcard.
3) Switch off the phone and enter to download mode (“Vol Down + Home + Power”).
Wait until the driver will be installed and Odin will recognize the phone!
4) Flash I8160XXLD8_ready_to_root_ANT.tar.md5 using Odin as PDA part.
(Original : I8160XXLD8_original.tar.md5)
5) Turn off the phone again and enter to recovery mode (“Vol Up + Home + Power”).
6) Select “apply update from sdcard” and choose update_su.zip file
7) Reboot the phone
8) Rooting Successful
