I love that layout/screen color the whole thing. What launcher are you using and all that. I think I may need to try something like that. It looks AWESOME!!!

Ok, I've been flashing roms for years starting back with the HTC Incredible. I can flash just about any device with out problems. In fact I flash so much I don't spend a whole lot of time learning all the tips and secrets. I now find that this is coming back to bite me in the ass. I love this rom. There are SO many different things to modify and try I don't know where to start. Has anyone taken the time to write up the different sections and how to use the less common ones? For example, I'm not all that certain what all goes on in Jedi Rom Tricks. Are there walk throughs somewhere with suggested DPI's for appsand stuff? I know I'm missing so much stuff. Simple searches are not getting good results for me so any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks much!

Well for dpi, I set it to 270 because 240 made some apps weird. There's a modified dialer and keyboard floating somewhere on xda for modified dpi settings. Try it out using texdroider_dpi

Unresponsive Black screens, background logging?

I've been with Jedi for a few months now. In the past few releases my phone has stopped, and forced me to do a battery pull

Symptoms: screen goes black, menu and back button lights stay on, non responsive to any combination of buttons.
This happens randomly regardless of the app I'm using. Sometimes it happens when my phone is sitting, streaming pandora (aux or cable, happens either way), while I'm searching on google play, on Youtube, or while it's sitting, screen off, in my pocket.

This has been happening since about Jedi-X12, but it's probably not be the ROM's fault. I clean install every time and restore only user backups from titanium.

I have a hunch it might be the fitbit app, but I've disabled background sync in that app so it doesn't make sense either. Anyways I want to be sure I find the cause because I really like the fitbit app.

Is there a way I can log all activity on my phone? The next time a black screen occurs I want to be able to battery pull and find the culprit.

Who else has had this kind of thing happen? I've searched through the threads but mostly find people pointing fingers at various apps. I've got more than 100, I'd hate to install them one by one every few days.

What you're describing is called a sod.
Not likely app related.
Most likely cause is your chip can't handle the frequency. Go into trickster and raise you mpu voltages by either 25 or 50 at the 100 and 200 level.
It also won't hurt to read back in the thread. I've told at least a dozen people how to do this. Had you read or searched for 5 seconds you'd see this

Ok guys I'm really getting tired of this sod crap from new comers. Seriously we don't need an essay on it every time someone gets one. And if you're getting them take a sec and search back a few pages. There are tons of suggestions. I know I'm feeling like a broken record and I bet a few other people are also likely feeling it.
Read and stop saying you searched the thread but found nothing! This is just getting crazu

The Verizon signal issue pretty much has to be rom related. I am flashing other roms like crazy and am only having the signal problem here, and this is the rom I want the most too.

Signal issues arnt rom related, theyre modem related, idk if different modems are available for the Verizon rom, but try those out.

Hi, first I'd like to thank you for such a great rom, this rom had everything I wanted and nothing I didn't. I committed with an early version of jedi x from around five months ago, and everything was working perfectly since then. But when I put the latest Jedi x17 on my new note 2 (which I got through insurance because previous one broke) it seemed that the rom became more glitch-ridden. Here are some issues I've found in the last week:

-unable to send text messages (which was fixed by reflashing)
-"custom notification background" app force closes on startup
-no signal bars (but functional data)
-gps is completely broken. it puts me in a general location of about a two mile radius but that's as close as it gets. "gps quick fix" did not fix, nor gps fix apps on the market.

Now I've skimmed through several pages of this thread and it seems a lot of verizon sch-i605 users are having generally the same issues. With all due respect the "known issues - none" section of OP is misleading and must be updated, because otherwise I wouldn't have downloaded it because I was expecting the same perfect functionality of the earlier jedi x. Is there a functional version of jedi x I can roll back to? Or is there a way to fix the gps on this rom (since that's the only issue I care about)? Once again I appreciate your efforts on this rom and I wish you good luck on further developments.

edit: I've heard the gps issue can be resolved by getting a gps fix on stock then flashing to rom? I'll try that and report back. - nope didn't work

It might be. "Have you tried rebooting?" "sir, I cannot help you until you reboot your computer" ahh tech support.

Check your firewall settings. See if you can connect to a different WiFi network. If you don't have one at home, try your local coffee shop. I've had that problem with Windows, and usually resetting the wireless adapter in the laptop fixes it.

Sorry to everyone else for going so far off topic there Haha.

You might check with Mark and see if he's made any progress on it. I know he recently got his pc up and running again. So he may be working on it. He's always in here trolling anyway so I'm sure he'll post something haha.

*snip*

For custom notification background, clear app data and make sure it's enabled in xposed settings. Then reboot and set the image you want.

Mark was working on a fix for signal bars not showing up. You'll need some patience for that one. It might even be fixed in the next release. But him and ptmr3 both had their comps go down in the last 2 weeks.

For gps, some have said going to a stock rom, getting a gps lock and flashing the rom gave them a lock.

Thanks for the reply (I also have the default theme set for the notification background app)
I did exactly as you said I got a perfect gps fix on stock and I flashed jedi x (wiping in between) but I still get absolutely horrible accuracy in google maps.

I think I just might trade in this rom for one with a functional gps, I'll miss all these features though. hmm

Jedi Council's Guide to Thread Participation":

"A Jedi trusts the Force and first seeks other ways to resolve problems: patience, logic, tolerance, attentive listening, negotiation, persuasion, and calming techniques."

Generally speaking, we are a pretty calm group of people, but as with so many other things in life, there are those that evoke a negative response from the very start. THAT is why we are such believers in maintaining a polite, respectful thread. Most everyone here is eager to help, and the only thing we ask is (despite the associated tedium) read the entire thread, it can only help. If and when you are still stuck, feel free to ask questions, we're all here to help one another.
