Hi all,

Tried to root my NST with Touchnooter. Followed the instructions and rebooted after removing mSD card. I get the Nook by Barnes and Noble welcome screen and five circles that cycle. The NST flashes every once in a while but doesn't do anything else. Tried doing the factory reset by pushing the two lower buttons. No luck. Same result.

What should l try next?

Thanks!

Well...if you made a backup, then just restore your Nook and start from the beginning.
Or you can try any of those "restore" images - there is a thread about it.

The OP has probably already gotten there, but for anyone else: just keep power cycling.

The touchnooter process, even when it goes sideways, shouldn't prevent you from restoring to stock after 8 failed boots with no sdcard in the device.

The problem for me with this process is just how long it takes, because the power button on the NST is not too responsive - but eventually I get to the right number of failed boots and the little guy resets.

I got same problem when I first tried touchnooter, then I solved it with the n2T-Recovery. Here is my thread, I hope it will help.

good luck.
And if n2T-Recovery doesn't work (it didn't in my case), try TouchFormatter http://xdaforums.com/show....php?t=1475613.

FWIW, I had similar problems rooting my NST using the TouchNooter method but finally succeeded using MinimalTouch method http://xdaforums.com/show....php?t=1346748 (after restoring my NST using TouchFormatter). MinimalTouch 2-step process seems more complicated on the surface but is fairly straightforward in practice (plus it provides the option of a partial backup/restore of the NST).
