I want to install blackhawks kernel (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2439564) but I've never installed just a kernel before.

I found a thread saying to install using a recovery, but I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.

- Do you just flash it like a ROM?
- Can I flash a new kernel over a compatible ROM, or do I need to flash the kernel then the ROM?

I have a 210R and I'm going to use SvelteNole (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2722582)

ANY advice is appreciated!

You can flash the rom and kernel during the same session in recovery. Rom first, kernel second.
