Tried this patch today. But it seems to have disabled my GPS totally on my phone, although luckily I backed up before I did this. I moved the files to system via es file explorer, and made sure I had mounted system. Im running Droidzones 2.1 ROM.
Flashed the google specific CWM package into my Cool ICS Sense v2 by coolexe, and now GPS works like a charm; it works in about 2-3 seconds and is (almost) perfectly stable. Only a little problem, now the weather in sense's widget doesn't work anymore, but I think I can cope with that
Not for me - it detects the location but says there isn't any weather information avaible. It used to work before flashing this patch, but now it doesn't. As I said, it is nothing to worry about. The sense weather widget thing if you mean the location hasnt working properly for ages.
always been saying 'united kingdom' to me - sometimes flicks over and finds the right place but then flicks back to being generic again soon after.
happens on my Win Mo 6.5.x, the desire, friends sensation, another friends desire and so on and so on. I hope HTC fix it one day as it kinda sucks - it used to be cool

Yep that might be true... but also, after installing your patch dialer shows numbers properly, before they used to be very small and were in the corner of the screen inside the dialer. They are weird things, but I prefer to keep your patch Maybe it is why I installed my ROM using amonRA and flashed your patch using CWM after doing a backup with it.This patch doesn't change anything with weather data retrieval. Sorry it has occurred my friend. But, this indicates there's something else going on.
I use Weatherbug anyway...
So....can i use 4EXT recovery, you don't include that in you info.
The patch has nothing to do with recovery. I did use that one a while ago and it would flash just fine. There are three options to flash so if recovery won't do, use another...

Out of interest what makes you leave out
ENABLE_WIPER=1
Is wifi positioning not useful in this file? Im guessing this variable is redundant.
I'm still curious on how you assemble your xtra.bin file, I have been using qualcomms servers however would like to know where your data comes from.
This works wonders, just flashed it on a Desire with CM based mildwild rom and its damn fast! Thanks alot
EDIT: Do I have to reflash this after I update my rom for example? (when only wiping cache/dalvik I mean)
E2: Seems its not needed, all settings saved and works as previously - just pefect.
Hi,
I have this ROM flashed on my Desire:
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1484648
is there somebody else who has the same ROM and tried this aGPS fix? What about result?
Thanks
What isn't needed anymore? This patch isn't needed with a new ROM? Confused by Edit #2.
That ROM is in alpha stage development. Meaning, there is a high probability that there will be issues with GPS functionality and aGPS functionality. A lot of times other location recognition systems won't work either in such early builds.
If your GPS isn't working well with that ROM at this time, this patch will not destroy the ROM. It can only make it better. But, it can only make something better where the proper configuration in the ROM exists. That is something I cannot speak to.
You can always do a Backup before flashing this patch.
