HTC One M7 WWE ASIA - Failed install sense 6 update (Variant System Version)

Hello,

HTC One M7 UL WWE Asia just got update sense 6 with software number 5.12.707.3 size 666MB.

I have download it but when ready to install I have message update failed to install due to "variant system version".
My phone s-off, unlocked Bootloader but on stock recovery and rom kitkat 4.20.707.6 as pic in attached. I have try to do fastboot OEM lock but install update still fail.

I have try to downgrade to hboot 1.44 and Install Ruu 1.29.707.3 which is jb 4.1.2 and got ota update 4.2.2 then 4.3 then 4.4 sense 5.5 but when install update 4.4 sense 6 always failed.

What should I do to get update sense 6 successful to install (not get message variant system versions again)?

If anyone can share system dump OTA M7 UL Kitkat sense 6 5.12.707.3 will be great.

Check whether you changed CID and MID before ?
Especially the MID (had the same problem)

Yes. I had change MID and CID before. My phone originally AT&T versions MID PN07120 dan CID HTC_001 and I have change to Asia WWE MID 710000 CID HTC_044. Buat I can install OTA update for WWE Asia from jb 4.1.2 v. 1.29.707.3 up to Kitkat sense 5.5 successfully. Only OTA update KitKat sense 6 failed.
Is there any security change on HTC OTA update to protect people change MID and CID?

The correct MID for 5.12.707.3 is PN0714000

Thanks for point out me on MID number.
But how come I got notification update 5.12.707.3 as on my screenshot if I use wrong MID ?

If I am not wrong WWE Asia support 2 MID: PN0710000 and PN0714000 but both have CID HTC__044 as below RUU link :

Check on HTC CN based on IMEI and SN number :
According to the IMEI number you provided to the query message:
Model: HTC One (801e)
Sales to: USA

But I had change MID and CID to ASIA model.
Do this change made system variance ??

Correct ... PN0710000 is supported until 4.20.707.6 but not in 5.12.707.3.
You got the notification because of CID not MID.

Since you already on 4.20.707.6 ... just change MID then do OTA will be enough.
(I did the same)

But I need to install custome recovery and root if change MID as follow both method from here :

Does it working on OTA if I install custom recovery and root to follow guidance above?

Use the 1st method. You don't really need root but you need TWRP installed. And most important S-Off.
And no problem if there is root. OTA will remove root.

After change of MID done, simply reflash stock recovery .. then OTA.
OTA will not run on TWRP or any custom recovery

I have made change MID but when flash stock recovery always failed.
Mine : 4.20.707.6
Stock recovery only available : 4.20.707.7

I can get ready to install OTA update but cannot get success to install due to recovery always shown "red" message even already flash with 4.20.707.7

is there any possibilities to get recovery stock from my phone?
I have TWRP back up.

#edited : I have success flash recovery 4.20.707.6 found on other thread but installation failed in middle with shown red triangle on stock recovery. Have been repeat 2x but no luck.
I will try back from ruu 1.29.707.3 and see what happens OTA update after change MID to 714000.

Do you know where can download the ROM, RUU or firmware for 5.12.707.3? My phone was crashed (boot loop) cannot recovery and cannot downgrade to older version due to S-ON.

Get installed correct firmware as you phone version.
