[Q] New to device, recommendations on where to begin with roms?
I'm making a move over to this phone shortly, as I dropped my current device, rendering it inoperable (LG Optimus G, may its shattered screen rest in peace.)
Given my drive for unleashing my phones potential as soon as I acquire it, I'd like to jump right in to a good ROM. Unfortunately, as this is my first day reading this board, I have no idea which ropes to pull, or where to find said ropes. I'm hoping someone around could recommend me a good rom, based on the points I list!
-I generally DO NOT like AOSP. There's a few exceptions, but I've grown to like a lot of stock stuff in the past. (That said, if I learn I absolutely cannot stand sense, I'd probably just install PACman as my AOSP choice anyways.)
-Battery life is important, and signal, if that sort of thing applies. I seldomly indulge in games, when I find the time (I'm however, a firm believer that games belong on dedicated game consoles.) Most of my phone usage lies in multimedia, and internet usage. (Bluetooth-A2DP performance is VERY important, as is GPS-location based performance. Audio/Video quality mods a plus~. I'm a frequent user of PowerAMP, so the rom doesnt have to have too many fancy music apps included.)
-Camera is also quite important. (AFAIK, the EVO 4G LTE should've been my smartphone choice for it's camera, so this may not even need special treatment. The Optimus G had a great camera, but it lacks a bit in the picture quality department. Most of these shortcomings were overcome with various camera mods we had on the board over there.)
-Preinstalled themes are of low importance. I generally dislike the over-the-top themes that came with a lot of older roms (such as those on the epic 4G and on the EVO 4G), I usually replace them with my own minimalist-esque themes. That said, I'm quite satisfied with ViperROM's theme from Optimus G Land. On the subject of Viper...
-I'm familiar with ViperROM (Saw a thread when I took a peek at the rom board.) I think ViperROM on the Optimus G was THE absolute best stock LG-based rom. Does this still hold water over here? Another rom that quickly stood out to me was MeanBean.
Is there anything out there that would quickly meet my criteria?
