Quick (stupid?) question. Does this stop the companion activity ? I mean, if I set it on 2 cores, will I only have 2 cores working ?
Nicely done. I'm giving it a full charge now to see how it fares over an average day on 2 cores. Can't notice too much performance difference running on 2 cores now!
In the same vein as brentett, and similar to the setCPU profiles, could you add dropping to 2 cores on battery %, temperature, charging on AC and time of day?
Charging on AC would be the most important for me. That's when this phone really cooks if I'm charging and using it at the same time. Seems to run slightly cooler playing Youtube on AC charge anyway. Every time I finish a journey after using car charger and sat nav, the phone is hot enough to cook eggs!
Ok,just installed the app, after that it immediatly showed me that i am using 4 cores,i selected the option for 2 cores, app told me that now i am using 2 cores.I will fully charge my HOX tonight and i will se tomorow how it behaves.I also played a little Hambo and i didn't noticed any lag or anything like this...I will keep you posted.
EDIT:Just installed TegraStats and the app confirms that now i am using only 2 cores.
I only have one question, will this somehow affect my device?I mean,is there a posibility that this app may broke my device if i use only 2 cores?
Nah, you said it yourself, it doesn't lag at all with 2 of the cores turned off, it doesn't really make any difference (apart from maybe improving battery life and stopping the overheating)!
UPDATE:
v1.2
Removed pointless code
Quite a few UI changes
Active Cores can now be set on boot (last one selected will be used).
Download attached to OP
Enjoy
amazing upgrade.. i love the last new feature =P
keep up the good work!
Any reports on battery life? This is perfect to have when I am at work and just need lots of juice all day.
Really great app! Thanks a lt for it!
The phone is as smooth as with quadcore..even the Tegra games (incl. Dark Medow) running without any difference in performence.
Whats noticeable in gaming is the huge battery saving and I mean HUGE. Also it gets not that warm/hot as before.. Absolutely great..
If you don't play games on your phone you'll, notice a small battery saving anyway..

navigate to line 115 and remove:

v1.4.2
Hopefully fixed the pointless and repeated request for SU access
v1.4.1 [BETA]
Only ever asks for Root Access when changing cores
Added CPU temperature and frequency (Many thanks to Treebill!)
- WARNING: The frequency jumps around a lot. I don't know if the file is buggy or this is actually happening
- CPU temp and frequency only ever update when CoreControl is open. This will obviously be changed when CPU temperature profiles are introduced
- CPU temp is fully colour-coded
Battery Temperature is now fully colour-coded (Many thanks to Treebill!)
General code clean up and optimisation
v1.4 [BETA]
Added Battery Profiles
- See "Battery Profiles Info" above
Should get and display Battery Information quicker
v1.3
UI Changes
Added a 'Battery Information' Sliding Drawer with the following information:
- Battery Health
- Power Type [USB/AC/Battery]
- Battery Charge [With Battery state, Charging, Full, etc.]
- Battery Temperature
- Battery Voltage
It's all colour-coded too!
Battery Profiles are pretty much fully coded, they're not included in this release though. Should be done by next update.
v1.2
Removed pointless code
Quite a few UI changes
Active Cores can now be set on boot (last one selected will be used).
v1.1
Removed pointless "1 Core" option
Disabling/Enabling cores should be quicker (slightly)
V1.0
Initial Release
Thanks for the awesome app. Funny thing is that it also works for the Asus Transformer Pad TF300t. Just thought you might wanna know. Maybe even add a option for the Tf300t to use only one core?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I am getting pretty good battery life in standby mode since I dropped to 2 cores can I try one core please.
