Write 1 how to that might take over an hour to write, and help THOUSANDS of other great potential themers.

Ok, so I've pulled a skin .apk that I like and decompiled it in Virtuous Ten Studio to use it as a guide. I'm noticing that all the images are 72 resolution. Is this done to keep file sizes down? Can they be done in say 300 resolution for better image quality?

That is exactly why i dont make skins, they are made from old sense 3.0 M10 files so they are able to be edited but they are not made for our screen size so they don't look good
If i helped out, please hit thanks!

So, if I were to replace the images with higher resolution files would I be looking at FC's, not booting or appearing oddly on the screen? That sucks unless you're doing a relatively "flat" color scheme where resolution is pretty much a non-issue.

Is there any method to import higher-rez images at this point or are we just limited by the tools we have at hand at this time?

It depends are you talking about changing the M10 image sizes? Or the images in res/drawable?

If your talking about M10 no that wont work

If res/drawable then yes you can do that no problem

XHDPI images in the res folder. Working on all the buttons and bars and such. I want to do the Sense 3.6 clock once I find it in the decompiled files.

Keeping the pixel dimensions the same as the original image but the document size is obviously very different between the two resolutions of 72 and 300.
