Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom 1.π JB 4.2.2 [d2vzw] » Feb 20

Is there a Changelog? I'm all about updates for improvements, but it would be helpful to know what they are.

ended up going back to carbon 4.2.1 . the only reason i made the switch was because i use my gps a lot and with the new update my gps was being a turd. but also i feel like 4.2.1 runs a lot smoother and faster at least for me. when a new up date comes out i will be making a back up and jumping on the new update to see if the gps works better. great rom and thanks again. :)
I expierienced GPS problems as well.

After reading this, I tried using GPS with Maps, while driving around. GPS lock was quick; I had maps zoomed in all the way, and considering I was using it while driving 0-40 mph, the 20-50 feet lag in GPS vs actual position was acceptable. At stops, GPS caught up instantly, if it was lagging at all). I usually use the GPS with Navigation, which is more accurate than Maps, or with a Marine navigation app (Navionics). I will test the former later today, and the latter in a couple months when boating season resumes.

This has nothing to do with what I was posting. It locks fine and on maps it works fine. It's with apps that measure distance via gps. Running apps. I went back to version 1 and it works flawlessly, it measures my runs down to the 100th of a mile and distance measured is accurate. In the new build(including yesterdays update) it doesn't measure correctly. I just started a run this morning and after 7 seconds it measure me having gone 1.04 miles, then a few seconds later it had me a 1.64 miles. This is during a run and it is impossible to move 1.64 miles in 10 seconds. This is also with the previous build and yesterdays build, but NOT with the first build.

Do lockscreen widgets with embedded shortcuts work for anyone else? For example, tapping DashClock should take you to the Clock app, but instead it just puts focus on the unlock slider. This happens when tapping any lockscreen widget. Also, the shortcut when tapping the clock in the statusbar doesn't work from the lockscreen.

anyone having issues with the browser? I keep ghosting on the screen near the status bar. say i type in a URL, the whole box that i type the url will stay there for multiple websites and is really strange. its like frozen on there...

i dont have a theme on and you can see how the loading bar is even strange too. you see the black space or do you see how forum rules is frozen at the top? I cant click on anything in the frozen area. It is as if nothing is there.

I have already cleared the data on the browser.

I need some info from the folks reporting ringers that don't repeat. are you using a custom ringtone, or a stock one? if stock, have you changed from the default?

none of us have any trouble at all.

Just clean flashed to 1.3..

I tried to hookup to my BT Jambox today, it didn't play any music. I was short on time this morning so I didn't have much time to troubleshoot, but is anyone else having BT audio issues? No garbling like a month ago, but just nothing at all. Yes, I'm sure it was paired.

I'm using two different ringtones. Both are. Mp3 files. They've been used on rooted LG Ally, and HTC Thunderbolt with no issue.

Very stable ROM / I dirty flashed over previous (1.1?) and seems really solid/ Looks to be my daily driver / Coming from Clean and Synergy that's kinda big. Finally comitted to 4.2.x after CM 10.1 essentially trashed my old SGIII (luckily Vz replaced it).

One quick question, is there a way to suppress/hide the status bar on the lock screen (using dash clock as my only screen, maximized widget)?

Currently on CleanRom and really want to try this but I have zero issues on clean and that makes it hard to leave. I really miss stock android though - I just don't miss the quirkiness that went along with mist custom ROMs and the constant updating that fixing those quirks required.

That said, I'm watching this forum closely. I will probably give it a try soon.

What happened to your previous GSIII?

I have noticed this same problem with map my run. My 48 minute run on Sunday covered 47 miles. But if I go into the run, it shows my actual mileage. Kinda wierd

I would suggest a nandroid and try it out. I was the same way, staying on tw based roms for the stability, in particular the data drops. But this one is down right stable for an aosp rom. And audio works better on this for me than on tw.

PI question: can you substitute APKs enstead of the current navigation bar commands? Can see some really cool minimalistic set-ups if possible.

How do I get pie to work? It just seems to pop up on the right side of my screen. Also my ring targets don't work on the nav bar anymore.

I run a zedge ring tone. It's a standard ringing type of sound, not an mp3. The issue happens upon using any ring tones in the device - the built in media storage ones, and any that I've downloaded.
You also asked about changing from the default, when I flashed the rom (clean) there was no ring tone set as default, option was set to "none".

This is how it is intended to work, it's not broken. The reason it highlights the unlock is because it wants you to unlock to get to the clock. Does the clock not appear after unlocking?

    About Carbon

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.

We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

    Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

    Download Carbon

All Carbon downloads and further information such as features, changelog, and FAQ can be found on our goo.im page.

Both nightly and release builds are available. Please note that nightlies are for development purposes. This means that they may not work properly, may not flash, may not build for days at a time, and will probably eat your cat. If you flash these, know what you're doing, have backups, and don't complain when something happens. It's on you!

    Support

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

    1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.

    2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!

    3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.

    4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.

    5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

Hey everybody! So we decided to make an actual CarbonDev account and post useful information about the rom through this account instead of our personal accounts, you know, so we seem professional and whatnot. We are also in the process of changing the OP's to this account so they don't say 1.6 anymore lol. We have contacted xda and are waiting for that to get done, all in good time. We hope this change will make everything a bit easier for you, our precious users, but also for us in a logistical sense. We try to do everything possible to make Carbon user friendly and to meet the needs of the majority and hopefully this will help us maintain that goal. Anyways, back to work! Peace.
