What frequencies do phones work in India? Is there 4G data available in Delhi and Bangalore? Would my existing phones give me 3g/4g?
no mobile 4g in india yet..(broadband 4g is there but in selective cities only...4g prepaid coming soon in 6months.) ...
btw all us unlocked phones works like a charm, nexus series for example.be sure to check out some special plans offered by your carrier before heading here...they might provide some magical things...
adding more info..
Most GSM networks in India use 900 mhz and
1800 mhz frequencies, (including Airtel, BSNL's
Any phone that has the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz
frequencies will work in India.
The ideal solution is to get a quad band phone
Otherwise, buy a triband 900/1800/1900.
Buying a phone in india is cheaper because
handset prices are low.
for example you can buy a nokia 105 for approx 16$ only...
and may i suggest to use local indian landlines for calling back usa...cuz its only max 0.6$ per min to call usa from india..and ive heard international roaming is pain in ass...
if u can...than by resource get yourself a temporary indian sim costs no more than 2$ maximum....by that u will have good coverage and extremely cheap call rates(cheapest in whole universe)
may your journey be pleasurable and enjoyable...
