I was having a fair bit of trouble with it - following all instructions to a tee. Turned out I'd missed 1 little note that ended up being the crucial point - delete all hack recovery file off of both the sd card and the "files" folder from the All in One directory. It will re-download the one you need. seems that it uses different ones for region or buil.prop or something, as once I did that, it went off without a hitch.

My steps were to cut and paste the contents of the all in one folder to C:/ so that the bat file was c:/sonyetc.bat.
Updated java
ran the AiO tool as admin
Then EXACTLY as Condi mentioned in the first post for ICS instuctions. Didn't have to vary from those steps at all, whereas originally I tried everything I possibly could to get it to work with no luck.

but file not found

:(
3.2.1 r2 is located here, but I believe that build is not vulnerable to the root exploit. 3.2.1 is here; I'm not sure if this build is vulnerable.

I just read your recovery.log for the first time, hdi-95, and recovery will not accept the links I posted previously -- or any build for that matter -- because region.zip on your device is corrupt. You should try to get service from Sony or do a store exchange. Sorry.

OR

if i try with signed-nbx03_005 ICS update i think i have one chance

Hi,

Unfortunatelly for now only sony service can help you.
I can provide firmware which got correct (higher) incremental value,
to get passed via updater. But if region.zip is incorrect,
then none of them will gonna work.

The version check is before the region check, which is why you're getting a different error message with the (older) firmwares I linked. You would see the first error as well if it could get that far, which is what condi is saying. We can't fix the region.zip problem because you no longer have permissions to that file.

Post your recovery.log if you want answers about recovering from brick. We can't know what your situation is until we see that.

is there a way to push a working region.zip with adb?
sorry if it is a stupid question......

you can, if you had root before and you have a working _hack_recovery.zip

here is the procedure:

* copy the _hack_recovery.zip to sdcard
* go to recovery mode (press and hold Vol+ and press power)
* put sd card in tablet and select to apply updates from _hack_recovery.zip
* This will fail, but after that you can give "adb shell" command from computer to gain shell access
* run /system/bin/tempsu to gain root user access (this will work only if u had root before u try the update)
* mount /system as RW and copy the correct region.zip

hope this helps.. i had the same issue, and i unbricked like this..

In order to run a shell in recovery, an incremental update, i.e. "_hack_recovery.zip," has to begin installing (it fails an assertion before completing), mounting /system along the way. However, it will not begin installing until it passes the version check and then the region check. The problem is that tablets with a missing/empty region.zip cannot pass the region check. Ergo, your tablet must have been in a different state. I wouldn't say that your story is impossible, but logically it doesn't make sense. This makes me curious. Are you sure that your region.zip was missing/empty?

I can't see tablets in this state getting anything but "'/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory" when trying to run a shell before and after attempting to flash "_hack_recovery.zip" because it should essentially do nothing in this case.

get one more file from recovery! /tmp dir:

I'm afraid to send it to sony and answer me "violation of terms of use" product warranty lost

    is there another solution ?

I am affraid there isn't any further options, mine was bricked too and they replaced a MTB chip which is very important, if all values are zero like mine were you could say like i did: I did a factory reset and it restarted then it didn't do anything anymore you must seek for a company in your envirement who are Sony certified they will send it to sony you only have to pay the sending costs, i did a recovery.log pull too and i sended it to Condi maby you could compare those to recovery logs
and see what are the difference.

I hope that condi might find a sollution, but i am still affraid that you will have to send it back,

    Sorry for my english
