If you don't have an efs backup and the ZVB modem flash doesn't work then you could try getting your passwords from Sprint like I mention towards the end of my original post. Then you could use that info along with the zero efs zip to restore a working EFS. Other than that... you could try some of the "restoring efs tips" in the first post like a factory reset or a LGNPST flash back to stock.
Thanks for the quick reply. I did not back up EFS when I unlocked the phone. At that point freegee didn't support it, but I'm still a dunce for not doing it on my own. I actually work for Sprint so I can get all the programming info I need.

I did attempt to flash the radio again, with no luck. When I do ##786# and view my device info, it shows all zeroes for my MEID. Could I just use cdmatool to write the ESN info, and then force an OTA activation? Would that work?

hard to say.. i have no idea how damaged the EFS is. It could be much more than just a missing meid. if it were only the meid then yes you could try writing back your meid. if not, you'd prob need my zero efs as a new base... then get all the proper info.

786 is a bad move on this phone. I have seen it wipe the HDR AN LONG password(PPP password 32-char hex). This password is never OTA's.. its loaded on your phone from factory. Also, unlike some other phones... 786 reset does not restore any original EFS/NV values. This is why EFS backups are so important on this device.

better to use the ##72786# reset instead when wanting to reset profiles... but when it comes to restoring/fixing a messed up EFS... restoring a working backup is the only option(other than my zero efs).

all the info on efs that i can help with is out there at this point. up to you now to apply. good luck with it all.

Quick question. I successfully got talk and text working, but under step k for getting data working, the instructions read to put in the username and password. On my phone, the username@sprintpcs.com field was already populated. Also, the password you instruct is supposed to be 6 characters. Is this password something I ned to get from sprint? Or is it a password that I have to come up with.

Also, it seems that the IMEI number isn't "sticking", as you put it. Aside from data, everything has ben working ok.

everything is covered in the first post.. please take the time to read the OP entirely before making new posts in a development thread. Let's keep this thread clean.

at the bottom of the OP I detail how to get all the info... "Data Profile username/password - You can get this info by calling Sprint. You may be able to view the username with ##3282# > Data Profile > View"

as for imei not sticking... this is discussed a bit in the OP as well as all through this thread already. you say imei isnt sticking yet calls are working.. which would mean you wrote the meid? "After writing IMEI.. write the matching MEID." So if imei doesn't stick... you should keep messing with it until it does stick.. and only then move onto meid. if meid can stick... then imei should stick if correct. If still no go... it may require some outside of the box thinking on your end.

Gotcha. Point taken. I appreciate all the help you've given thus far. I got the 32-character hex AAA password from sprint, but in your instructions for that step you refer to the password as being 6 characters, so I was a bit confused.

I'll figure it out, you've provided a very good base of knowledge to work from already.

There are 3 data profiles in your phone.. MIP 0 and 1.. and your PPP HDR AN Long profile.

the 32-char hex is ONE password. You need TWO different passwords. One is 6 char.. one is 32 char

there are also TWO different usernames. So thats 3 profiles using two different sets of info

reflash a rom.zip in recovery.. or repair phone with LGNPST + stock bin.

then get back to reprogramming the entire efs. zero_efs zip has nothing to do with phone.apk missing tho.. i can tell you that. perhaps something happened during factory reset. maybe u just need another reboot to see if it pops back up

lgnpst info can be found here. If you have any lgnpst issues please find an lgnpst-related thread to discuss that in. lets keep this thread limited to just discussing EFS. thank you and good luck.
