Upgrade became available for me as well last night (UK X2ME). Nice to see Swiftkey Tablet X in there; seems much nicer than the standard Android keyboard. Also, there now appears to be a warning message when using a "non-optimised" charger. I often use the same non-Motorola charger whilst travelling, and don't remember seeing that message before.

The little flickering squares issue does look the have been sorted, though I did see a lot of flickering of the preview images in the Play Store when I was downloading apps.

The upgrade broke Google+;,it just crashes on start as has been reported by others. Based on the icon it looks like it's an older version. It didn't appear in My Apps as needing upgrade, but when I explicitly searched for it, there was an upgrade button. That looks to have sorted it out.

Haven't noticed any performance difference in real usage.

Had the same issue with Google+, Went to Applications, Force Stop, Clear data and Clear cache. That did it

Xoom 2 update - just will not update - yes, i'm rooted

Hi,

So I have a Xoom 2 10.1 UK. Rooted. Nothing removed.

Through the settings panel, I check and download the update.
I then click on update now.

It goes through half the process of updating, green android on screen with status bar filling up. After just 1/3 of this bar filling, the green cogs turning stop & switch to a yellow triangle. Just like on a rooted Samsung GSII.

Then my Xoom reboots and kindly lets me know that the 'update has failed'

I have gone through this process 5 times, even hard re setted twice.

Is this update failure due to the Xoom being rooted? As other members in this thread have updated with rooted devices... Is there an issue with the actual download?

Please help anyone with a 10.1 Xoom rooted...

Cheers,

It will show a console with exact error message.

Great so I did that and this is what it told me...

"After verifying current system asset failed : apply patch check system/app/citrixreceiver.odex"

Then some very long numbers & also then an error in /cache/blur_version(my current version #)
But is it right to assume the second error is because of the first???

Now i reinstalled the citrix receiver APP but still same error after. Do I need to install the odex file???

Thanks for your help!

here are citrix files ... unzip files copy them to your device and then use a file manager that have root access (root explorer for example , you can find several free and paid apps that can do that in market) and copy the files to /system/app

I had upgraded then rooted, then removed citrix receiver, now i'm worried that I will have problems with future upgrades.

I downloaded the citrix files that you provided but when I try to install it, it starts to install then it says "application not installed" any ideas why that's happening?

Thanks in advance!

Copy the files to system app directory don't install them... and people keep backups or just freeze the apps you don't want

Thanks for your help guys! This is working however several 'bloat' apps have been removed & now need putting back into the system.

To help everyone out who may have deleted these bloat apps when we rooted could anyone please upload all these apps / odex files from there xoom so we can help get them back in our system/app folder???

Hi there .. I have some questions about the xoom 2.

I changed my provider early this year, and the plan was, that i had to get an Galaxy 10.1N .
Unlucky me, the 10.1N isnt avaible anymore, so they told me I could get the xoom 2 instead.

So I took a look on some tests and reviews. It seems to be a good tablet and a good choice, but with some "laggy response time" and problems with video playback.

I think the problems are more software related, cuase the hardware alone, is good enough for a smooth usage.

So what about modifikations?

And the most importent question .. is it worth it to get one?

Most of the problems that the tablet has related with honeycomb 3.2. Xoom 2 is better device than galaxy tab in my opinion. The only thing that worries me, is the inability of motorola to provide an ics update in reasonable time. For mods, well... is an android tablet with root access and locked bootloader... that summarizes all

I think there was a system dump on the forum recently, this would have all those bloat apps you're looking for!

Just to confirm that my UK purchased Xoom 2 already got the update here in Spain.

Like others have already mentioned, it feels way snappier, even doing the most simple things, like moving icons around.

I have to say it took them so long, though, I almost returned the product, due to the unacceptable sluggish initial performance. It makes you wonder how many people actually did, trashing this otherwise gorgeous machine in the process in Amazon reviews and the like. Shame on you, Motorola!

Only one information, both files .zip and .crc are inside of BV.MZ607.tar. ;)

Whoever has MZ608 RETAIL (retail is not Vivo, Tim, Claro, retail, like, the version uploaded in droid-developers: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/xoom2/list.php, 1.6.0M-272.12_MZ608_p2HW_BlurRegion02_CFC1FF_fastboot_signed_latam.xml.zip), a friend from a Google Groups list has received the OTA and after I bugged him to get the OTA file (as he was not able to apply the update initially, it was failing), he uploaded it to Google Drive:

    https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B1j_akDAebUUNk4wSTNwcXlTTkU/edit

So, compliments to Sergio Gamero for sharing the OTA for MZ608 retail.

Also, while we tried to find out why his update was failing, it was due to the MD5 of one of the APKs (in his case, accuweather widget) not matching. It seems that somehow, RSD Lite failed to flash it properly or the SBF file he use to flash his MZ608 was corrupted only in this specific file. Some people that got the error to apply the OTA update reported that downloading the SBF from droid-developers and flashing it again and then doing the OTA worked fine, I was lucky that I did not need to do this, I've just entered recovery and everything worked fine and kept my files/settings/etc...

What to do with the OTA files (put all of them in the same folder):

    - Copy both files to the root of internal SDCARD/Memory and external SDCARD (probably one of them is not needed, but as Xoom 2 is slow like hell to reboot, I did not want to figure out which one is not needed)
    - Turn it off
    - Keep pressed both vol+ and vol-, and with both pressed, press and keep pressed power as well untill a screen looking like a personal computer from the 80's appear
    - Choose recovery (vol- navigates through options, vol+ choose the highlighted option)
    - When the android picture apears, press vol- and vol+, use vol- to navigate and highlight Update from sdcard (or something like that), then choose it (to choose the highlighted option in recovery, press power)
    - I've choosen the zip file like explained before (vol- and pwr), it took a while to finish (remember to have plenty of battery juice before trying to do this), when it finished, I've choosen the reboot option and presto...

If it fails to apply the update and you're sure that you have Brazil Retail ROM, you could try to apply the SBF from droid-developer using RSDLITE (if you already have the SBF file, download it again, as the file itself might be corrupt), it has worked for a lot of people (but if I'm not mistaken, this will wipe your device, so, have a Titanium backup prepared).

Notice that doing an OTA update kills your root, be smart, use Vodoo OTA Root Keeper before doing the OTA, save your root, after everything is done, use Vodoo again to restore root, it is easy and work like a charm.

If you need further instructions, I am sorry, but I'm not confortable giving them, it is already detailed, step by step, if you don't understand it, just wait the official OTA notification appear to you, it should appear soon, as the update work fine and soon Motorola will release it for every device.

Usual "I'm not responsible if hell freezes over or kittens get killed in the proccess" disclaimer apply. This has worked for me and a few friend, but I have no way to guarantee it will work for everyone.
