I can't get my remote (that come's with the TVKIT) to work.
I've noticed that there is an indicator between the foremost two buttons, is this indicator suppose to blink when I press a button, because mine does not?

i dont there is any need to compare other hardware platforms..
the you could say Windows7 works fine with flash, but my android does not..
or my milestone works quite wll too, but still not same platform...

Best is put into accepting Toshiba/Nvidia is still work in progress, other major companies seems to plan using tegra2 and then we will for sure see much better support..

Toshiba released the folio100 too quick, comparing to Malata T2 which is still not out, as they realize its not in an acceptable state, although Nvidia is helping them to improve, they have yet to release their tablet and provide updates.

I know there is a difference in base hardware, but i thought that maybe there was just a setting to be changed, an add-on, or app to be installed.

no, framework (which is core of the java + libraries) is very different from nvidia / malata / toshiba..
although Toshiba seem to have let people down, their framework right now is the best base we can get for proper functionality with our hardware.

apps are a supplement to the hardware, but having alls apps support functionality they need to put this into the framework, so all apps can utilize it.

OT: get HTC DesireHD , it got the looks, the size and actually quite nice performance.. although its 4.4" screen/lcd i think its best for now.. but in Q1 2011 you got many new tegra2 based choices with 4 or 4.4" screens too, maybe even samoled based :)

It's indeed a nice phone, but way out of my price range. My mobilephone contract last for a year and a half, so no new phone through them.

I was more thinking of the new LG Optimus one, which has wifi tethering (at least according to the manual).

My phone doesn't have to be powerfull, but my next phone must be able to tether to my tablet.

I might even go for a Mifi, like the Huawei E585.

re sound through hdmi

i got audio on my telly..so i guess both..
Thanks but mine just shows video, did u have to change ne settings to get sound, p.s. i love the folio and i dont realy have ne probs with it, i have never used android before, i see the disscussions about mods and google matket. It sounds like its the besst place for apps ect, but i am a little nervous about installing new software. Will keep an eye on Dexters posts though, he seems to be a wiz with this, maybe tosh should employ him, they cant sort much out by themselves.

The missing posts showed up on Toshiba Forums :
forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=124

Still weird: Dexter should have made an entry there tonight, but its gonw. Did you delete it again?

Seems like the Toshiba Mods made some weird "non chatting" vow.

i placed some posts in both sections.. i am not sure they censor so much now, but moderators chose to split up and make a folio section, which on the 6th november did not exist, i think it opened a week later.

but ill check, if they delete anything, i still got some posts queued for moderator approval :)

The remote is working without any problem, make sure to put new battery in before you use it:p

I've tried several new batteries but without any change. :(
One strange thing is that all though the indicator on the remote does not blink when I press buttons, but I get the feeling that the remote is transmitting.
This because if I have my TV turned off and press the TVKIT remote the TV starts...

But the Folio does not react to me pressing the remote...

yes but a forum isn't an official site... and in the toshiba site no folio links I found .....

but tnx for the link to the forum is better than nothing :)
what makes you think those are not official?

they are indeed official links... you must be looking at the wrong brand or country then..

folio does not exist for all countries simply because its not officially for sale there, so search a French or UK website for toshiba and you find Tablets series -> Folio otherwise you find nothing, you probably got a parallel imported edition so your country officially has no support for it.

this is just a tip for you guys running foliomod, and are not of the faint of heart.

i found a way to improve overall performance by deleting some of the system services from the /services/app/ folder using a root explorer.

i always got annoyed that services like "search" (two of them actually), "gallery", "weather widget" (even though i didnt use it), "voice search" and "mail" were constantly running in the background.

so i used a root explorer, got into /system/app/ and started deleting.
(i had to reinstall the whole mod twice because of own stupidity)

the weather widget is safe to remove, it's called something like "genie widget", removed

the "car home" packages too, since 1. i don't have a car, and 2. the folio don't have a gps.

removed ONE of the search box apps. (since removing both will render your browser's built in search useless).

took away voice search (seriously, how many times do you have the need to physically tell the computer what you're searching for?)

deleted the 3d gallery (since i think it's slow and a memory hog, replaced it with an app called "picture folder"

deleted the MMS package (when will it ever be used?)

also deleted Mail (since i just run gmail)

restarted the folio... Holy Crap that thing is running smooth now :D

just be careful, and google the different packages to see what they do before you delete them.. i tried to delete the phone/dialer app.. not smart. had to do a full reinstall =)

Another hipothesis is to install apk's on external SD card, but how we can do that? Somebody knows?

this is a fairly simple process...

    1. copy the apk you want to your sdcard.
    2. FolioMod you got toshiba filemanager included, and browse your sdcard and click on it, and it installs, if its blocks chose settings and unblock.

remember your screen is 1024x600, but dimensions of desktop is different, right? as you can scroll left<->right :)

im actually not sure where to put them, but i think the /system/toshiba/wallpaper/eu folder is good, as it links to that one during setup.

    HERE!

format the picture like this! (picture should be 1024*600, the canvas should be 2048*1024)
    save as .png
and with rootexplorer, put it in /toshiba/wallpaper/
remember to check the "disable wallpaper scrolling" in the launcherpro setting under "appearance settings"
select the image using the toshiba gallery.

remember to push the "thanks" button ;D

    Dear Toshiba Folio 100 user.

hi Vince. thanks for your answer, i realy apreciate it. just to sum it up:
i need to flash recovery from CM7, then flash CM7 rom itself, and after boot to format internal storage from OS. is that right?
is recovery included in CM7, so I can extract it from zip, or have to find it by my self?

currently I'm on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and using recovery from that thread A3 something. can i reflash over that recovery, or I have to wipe it using fastboot erase recovery?

sorry if its noob question, but i tryed so many methods so far, that i'm kinda lost.

    thanks in advance.

    Yes follow this step:

    1 - Download TG Foliomod 1.1 from here ( http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1951817 )
2 - Wipe everything in your recovery
3 - Found inside the .zip the file called recovery.img and install it via fastboot ( fastboot -u -S 0 flash recovery recovery.img) (I don't remember where i found the flashable .zip one)
4 - Now you can install CM7. Here is the original thread http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=933989
5 - go into settings menu - memory and do a full format your memory should be aviable now
6 - Follow this xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=846199 to install FolioMod or revert to stock

    Have a good MOD!!
