It's not in Development because guides go in General. That is where people should be looking first, not in Development.Tell me again why this isn't in the development section? I was starting to think they hadn't rooted AT&T LG Optimus G. This worked flawlessly with my AT&T Optimus G. Mods, move this to the development section under ROOT!! Woot woot! Change it from Korean version only, since this does also work for AT&T (US)
Just got my Optimus G in the mail today. Cant get the root to work, getting "The system cannot find the path specified.". Seems pretty simple, installed the drivers and ran the script. Any idea what might be happening? thanks.
Root:
- On your phone,be sure that you have enabled "USB debuging mode"(Seting>System>Developer options), and Unknown source(Seting>System>Security)
yep, did both
should the phone be connected in "Charge only" mode?
Put the adb in the folder then open cmd windows and run rootoptimusg.bat with adb

Edit: Also, I'm using the docomo (Japanese) version, I haven't found anyone confirm this working and in fact the japanese boards (2ch) are saying that they haven't figured it out yet. I have a sneaking suspicion no one has tried this yet so I'd like to try it out myself. What are the chances of using this and borking the phone?
Confirmed not working for Docomo version. ALso I think I borked my phone. I need some help. The device boots up, but it's slow!
Some basic functions don't work, like the camera.
Edit: After tinkering around I realized a factory reset fixed everything.
One person saying he couldn't get it to work is not confirmation of anything in my eyes, particularly given that it's pretty obvious that he wasn't entirely sure how the method worked: it is normal for the device to be slow, as Bin4ry's method reboots your device into emulator mode.
I just did it on the Sprint Version, and it did work, Make sure you have your phone set as an MTP device when connected via USB, and make sure that your device gets loaded with the ADB drivers as you plug in the USB. There is also a very important step that you must follow, DO NOT REMOVE from USB until your phone comes back up completely and finishes rebooting. The rest of the instructions were verbatim. Also I would suggest opening a command prompt (run as administrator btw) and navigating to the "stuff" directory inside the "RootOptimusG" directory (after extracted of course), once in the "stuff" directory run "adb devices" from the command prompt (without quotes), and make sure that it sees your device. If it does not, try changing USB prots, or re-installing your LG USB drivers, once you get that working, you can just cd .. (which will bring you back up one directory to the RootOptimusG directory, you can navigate however you wish, but I prefer cd .. to go up one), and just type RootOptimusG.bat (case doesn't matter in Windows, and you could just start to type root, then press tab which will auto fill the rest). That is it, you should be rooted. BTW I ran this method after the update, so it does still work even after the current update.
yes dude..we need it so much..could you upload it for us? my friend in japan cant help us..
