[Q] restoring /efs folder from another phone
this is my first post in XDA and would ask you a question:
Yesterday my friend gave to me his samsung galaxy s3 because he got "0049*" IMEI after flashing 4.2.2 XXUFME7 leaked ROM via ODIN. So i knew that firmwares >= of *EMG4 will change the efs folder format, then i flashed I9300XXEMG4 ROM with EMG4 baseband, rebooted device and the phone worked back properly. (I know that now i can't use a firmware with a baseband < EMG4, but it is not a problem).
Now, since this s3 is a gift but has a broken display, i would like to back-up its efs folder and then restore it on MY galaxy s3 (that does not have any problem, but i its IMEI is blacklisted due to a scam that i received), can i restore efs folder from my friend's s3 (that now is mine) on my own blacklisted s3?
Before asking this question i tried doing this following steps (To semplify : my friend's s3 = A ; my s3 = B
- Back-up of A
's efs folder (in efsV2 format)
- Restore above backup in B
, reboot => Getting "*0049" IMEI - Normal, because B
has I9300XXEMC2 ROM with EMC2 baseband that can not read efsV2 partition format. (Right?)
- Update B
to I9300XXEMG4 with EMG4 baseband via ODIN => getting "null / null" IMEI dialling *#06#
Can someone tell me where i went wrong? what can i expect if i restore a efs folder from another phone like i did?
Thanks in advance.
