Upgrading Woes, Advice Needed.
So the time has come for me to upgrade (Verizon Wireless). I am being booted off my unlimited plan which I'm not TOO upset about but its a downer. But my real problem comes in choosing a phone, for the first time I'm a little stuck on my options. I cannot really afford to pay full price for a phone right now so I am stuck with the phones they offer. As I'm coming off a Galaxy Nexus its going to be a hard act to follow I think.
I am a hardcore unix/linux guy so I demand as much access to my hardware and operating system as possible, i.e. unlocked bootloader/root. A removable battery is important to me as well but i may have to sacrifice it for some kind of portable charger. To try and keep things simple I'll list the phones I have been looking at and my gripes with them. My facts may not be 100% correct, I'm just hoping someone can "sell" me on a phone and school me into making a decision.
- Galaxy S4 - No unlockable bootloader, Tons of bloatware to live with if its never unlocked.
- HTC One - No removable battery, bootloader locked?
- Moto X - No removable battery, bootloader locked?
- LG G2 - No removable battery, akward button positioning, Bootloader locked?
If there is a phone you think I should take a look at that is not listed I'm more than happy to have a look-see. Any information at all would be helpful. I know locked bootloaders rely a lot on the community developing exploits to unlock them and it can be a gamble. But any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
