Mightymike use to have the best roms. When he released roms his servers would crash. Nrg would come out with the latest and greatest for EVERY phone. Thats where sense started and always was memory hog. Back when xda was mainly a gsm website. Cdma people were all at ppcgeeks. I still see a few guys every now and then from ppcgeeks. Calkulins a legend. And ziggy, tsowen, santod with their themes. No2chem, conflipper, cmonex just to name a few. Lol
Sorry i was just reminiscing.

The 6700 and ppcgeeks was my first venture into modding phones.

I had an og evo and wanted better battery life and performance. I was flashing roms almost every day and finally settled on cm7. I got an evo3d and rooted it and ran virus rom on it. Then it broke and I got another evo but it had hboot 1.5 so rooting it was too much of a pain. Finally got sick of the evo3ds horrible build quality so I jumped ship for my epic 4g touch. Rooting it was easy and battery life is decent. Finally started flashing roms

I started messing with phones with my first "smart" phone which was the HTC s621 from Edge Wireless this was before Cingular bought edge or at&t bought Cingular. Then I heard about this new OS that was pretty cool and different called Android so a few months later I picked up the HTC G1 and then after reading for a few months iI came crossed howardforums.com and signed up, found out about superoneclick and rooting and the rest is history.

First smartphone i had was the mesmerize from us cellular. I started getting the annoying Phantom button pressing and was researching how or if I could fix it. That's when I discovered xda and the voodoo kernels for the original galaxy's. I couldn't resist myself and became a rom junkie!!!

Did a bunch more reading to make sure I knew what I was doing and flashed a GB Rom. It was much better and had all kinds of new features.
Had to run the stock rom on this phone for awhile, but as soon as I found an easy way to root and mod it (thanks Sfhub), I flashed a custom Rom and never went back. I doubt if I will ever use a stock Rom again. I'll be getting a GS3 in September and there will be many great Rom choices by then. No doubt I will root it the day I buy it.This thread was a good idea. Thanks
Man, I started rooting with the Hero also. It was laggy as hell and almost unusable as a phone. You would press a name to call, it wouldn't dial, so you would press it again then it would try to conference call with the same person and not work. Or when people called you it would be so laggy you would miss the call before it could answer. The update was taking way too long and I decided to install a rooted modified version. It was amazing to me that these devs could fix all the problems with the phone. Rooted/modified roms could make and answer calls, yet when the sprint update came out it had the same problem. Now I got the E4GT from asurion a couple months ago and I like the AOKP rom so much my upgrade is just sitting unused for now... I want to make sure whatever phone I get has an active DEV community.
