First Boot Time

Hey guys, can anyone give me an estimation of how long it took them to boot into this ROM the first time?

I'm currently at 20 minutes.

EDIT: I should clarify where I am in the process, no? I'm looking at the Google logo with the two gears spinning. That's where it has been since it booted up. It also occurs to me that I did not get the Gapps Zip before I started. Eff.

Did you do a full wipe to start with? I get over 3 days on stand by, check that you have no battery hogging apps in background

Sent from my GT-P7310 using XDA Premium HD app

Thanks for the reply. Yes, when I started the Install, I did a full wipe: cache, delvik, and users. I know its not an app, because it did this on a fresh install. I installed it right before I went to bed with a 50% left on the battery, when I woke up, it was dead

Should take no more than a couple of minutes it should still boot without Gapps you'd just be missing googles apps

I'm curious now that the official AOKP guys are supporting the 8.9 whether the Galaxian Soup guys are going to continue with this? Am also curious based on the earlier comment - that the official AOKP has a different kernel and a couple of other tweaks to find out a bit more about what these are? At the moment I'm very happy with the GS AOKP r29 but now that r31 is out officially I was toying with giving it a whirl.

Then I'm going to try and re-install, because it hung at that page for over an hour.

EDIT: And it's still hanging at the gear screen. I'm starting to get worried here guys. Can anyone help me out?

If you could come up with a logcat that'd help enormously, otherwise all we can offer is the usual mantra about full wipe before install and all that jazz.

You could try fix permissions in CWM fixes some boot issues on SGS2 might help here.

Just a thought have you flashed the 3G instead of the WiFi or vice versa?

The first time I tried installing, I forgot to full wipe and it got stuck at the gears.

As for my power issue, I did another full wipe and reinstall, ill let you guys know if that helped.

I'm wondering if this ROM is still being developed, or will the AOSP stock version replace it.

If it's at the end of its life, I wonder if anyone has some advice about how to get rid of the wifi sleep problem that's on this ROM and the AOSP? I love the ROM otherwise, it's perfect, both for 3G and wifi, but I'd hate to leave it just to get this bug fixed.

Just to put a resolution to this problem. I just did another wipe, several times, and reinstalled. I now no longer have any issues with battery life. My tablet went from 200+mA being drawn during sleep, to less than 50.

To make this answer easy to search.

To fix the battery issue where you have very high battery draw and low battery life, wipe everything, all caches, factory reset, and wipe battery data, then reinstall.

Just wondering nycbjr, is this ROM going to be updated to the newer releases? Are there still but fixes being worked on?

I don't want to appear ungrateful for your hard work, it's a great ROM, but if it's static and won't have wifi fixed or the camera updated when the time comes, there is no point sticking with it.

Thank you

If you read the original post and search the thread for wifi and camera/s I think you'll find the answers to all of your questions.

With the greatest of respect, I did read all the posts, I've been following since the beginning. I was wondering with the AOKP folks being on build 32, whether or not we would be getting an upgrade.

Yes, I have a concern like everyone else about the camera but I know that's a problem across all ROM's. However if this one wasn't being developed, then it would not have a camera...not ever. There is no law that a ROM has to be developed forever.

Mediaserver sucks (my battery)

Hi, i had the regular AOSP version and switched to AOKP. Really like the ROM control settings, but media server drains 20% of my battery overnight at 97% of the total battery drain. Wiped everything in Recovery before flashing AOKP, will this fix itself after a couple of reboots or do i need to edit the build prop?

We've been working on the camera for all gtab 8.9s (we would immediately share with all rom builders), but its not as easy as snapping your fingers. I personally have spent 12+ hours attempting to adapt the ICS wrapper (which has little to no documentation and isn't even for our SOC).

Blame samsung for their lack of expediency in releasing the source code or a rom. Once that happens (or a miracle of programming genius) we will add the camera support post haste.

For the record we will continue to develop this and the AOSP rom (and perhaps another), we have the experience to bring you quality. We hope you continue to appreciate our effort's, my build env is fixed so updates will come faster.

Ciao

I think i figured out what was keeping mediaserver and thus my tablet awake over night. I watched a video in MX player in the evening but didn't finish it and thus i could resume the morning after. No other media apps were running and now after a reboot my standby drain is less then 5 %.

Is this a bug? And if so should i send a logcat(?) to you guys or contact the MX dev?

and still no update for 3g from galaxian soup.
    oh man...

i'm pretty sure most of the devs have a real life, job & better things to do than build roms for each release...
be patient. its free! if you don't like it figure out how to build and compile the rom yourself.
sorry if i sound kinda mean but people complaining about devs not releasing stuff, when the devs do it in their own time and for free kinda pisses me off...
