Hi everyone,

Here is screen off animations mod for Samsung's 4.3 firmware. It was originally made by sorg for S4 and I have ported it to S3. So huge thanks to him for original mod. You can thank him here.


It has 2 animation mods:
CRT Effect
Fade Effect


U can change this with terminal emulator using setprop command or u can write this line in build.prop file.
Code: 
persist.sys.screen_off=fade  ->  for fade effect during screen off
persist.sys.screen_off=crt  ->  for crt effect during screen off
persist.sys.screen_off=none  ->  for no effect(stock)

By default it comes with CRT Effect.

This mod is for Deodexed Roms only, so don't flash it on Odex Roms

Make a nandroid backup before flashing this mod.

I have been using it for a day and no random reboots but had couple of freezes. Try adding this line in build.prop,save it and reboot and see if it changes:

Added new mod which will automatically add the above line in build.prop after flashing. If u have already added above line then no need to flash it otherwise u must flash it to avoid freezes.

CRT off is kinda choppy, it doesn't work smooth like on XPERIAs. Is it supposed to work like that, or...? Fade seems to work fine.

Great work MyLifeRocks10! Works fine on Omega v51 (UGMJ9) and even with stock kernel no wifi. Haven't seen that since 4.0.4. :D

Yes it takes a bit longer than usual to screen off when using crt effect which I presume is due to delay required in animation for crt effect to take place. And TBH don't know how it works on Xperia Devices.

Nope, only works on TW Roms(4.3). Btw CM already has CRT Effect so u don't need to flash any mods.;)

    I use deodexed roms so I can release deodexed mods only. If you want it so bad then why not use deodexed roms? You may try the method given by Perka to odex it.

    Screen on animations causes random freezes and reboots when rotating device so for now only screen off animations is possible.
