Help Needed With Android Wifi Problem
I've trawled the web regarding this problem and have seen it mentioned a few times but haven't been able to find a solution that works. The problem is that some wifi modem/routers don't play well with Android's wifi and the outcome of this is that wifi uses significantly more battery than it should just because it's turned on. From experience in the past, I've found that wifi shouldn't affect battery very much just because it's left on if it's not actually transferring any data.
From information that I've found relating to the problem is seems that certain router chipsets don't play well with Android and this is what causes the problem. I have an old Belkin router that works fine and when using it my phone consumes very little power from wifi being left turned on. I have 2 newer routers, a NetcommWireless and a TP-Link that both display the problem. If I leave wifi on the phone turned on, there is noticeable battery use when using either of these routers.
This situation seems to be an Android bug that has never been properly addressed. Has anyone experienced the problem and is there a fix??
The most relevant mention that I've found regarding the problem is here but the fix that is mentioned doesn't work for me.
Any help is appreciated because for various reasons I prefer to leave wifi turned on on the phone.
