No such problems here. Using Nova launcher, SmartasssV2/noop/1024. Been on this ROM for a few days. That's a long time for me.

I don't remember ever seeing these symptoms. Was it like that for you from the git-go on this ROM, or only after you swapped launchers?

i been having the notification issue period. If i reboot bam as soon as phone is up xda notifications and google play updates show on screen but while its on they dont show up. AS far as the launcher its next launcher paid version that might be the issue. I am running smartazz v2 sio

I think I somehow activated that smart rotation. I think it was when I was messing with the face unlock. Now when I try to switch from portrait to landscape when I try to switch back to portrait it will stay stuck on landscape. And won't go back until I press the home key. Anybody have this happen to them and if so what did you do to correct it?

"I have zero issues"
"It's my DD"
"No problems"
and more....
So if you want to be the smoothest runner on a phone in your neighborhood, and impress the people at work with how productive you can be out in the field, try it out today, and remember, it's not just a padawan, it's a padawan 4.1.2 jedi bacon tw padawan...get it today while supplies last

Can I go straight from Gingerbread to this ROM?

I'm running a stock, unrooted Note on AT&T. I've never upgraded with any of the AT&T updates, so I'm still running Gingerbread.UCLA1, Android Version 2.3.6, and Kernel Version 2.6.35.11.

Can I go directly from my current stock setup to this ROM, or do I need to update to a better starting point first?

I hate things like what you're describing...some stupid dummy-head names a retard of a feature "Smart ( insert app name here ) "...and it works horribly

You call tech support, and it goes like this..

"Tech Support, how can I help you?"
"I'm calling because I somehow activated Smart Rotation, and now my phone screen doesn't rotate"
"Yes, I understand your concern correctly, right? Smart Rotation is NOT rotating improperly, correct?"
"No, my screen WAS rotating properly until I turned on Smart Rotate, and now it's not rotating properly"
"Yes, we used to get a lot of calls about screen rotation issues, a lot of people thought it was something they had done wrong and so troubleshooting the issue with them was difficult because they didn't know if it was the device or something they did, so we've solved that particular confusion issue and improved the screen rotation action with Smart Rotate feature upgrade as a customer appreciation feature, so now you not only know it's not your fault but in ADDITION to that, your phone shuts down faster because it doesn't have to consider if your phone's in portrait or landscape, it just shuts off without checking......enjoy your Smart Rotate upgrade and improved shut down process.....thank you for contacting Tech Support where we care....goodbye"

I haven't looked into the smart rotation feature and you may just be better off reflashing the rom on top of your installed one, you won't lose anything unless you've themed some things but even if you have it shouldn't take but a couple minutes to apply the themes

you want to make sure the rooting procedure you use is for gingerbread....after you've completed the rooting process and have a recovery installed (if you're moving up to jellybean install twrp for your recovery because clockworkmod is not working at all, for many people)....anyways, so after you're rooted and have twrp installed, you're going to need to wipe the device completely before flashing a new rom so once it's wiped just to be safe, install a rooted ics rom and then go to JB

not to doubt your word GT, can you make that jump from Gb to JB on the Note ???

I remember on the Infuse you could not. you had to flash ICS before going JB. then again, that was the Infuse.

oh and on the other thing........I KNEW YOU SOUNDED FAMILIAR,,,,,,,,,,,,,YOU WORK FOR AT&T !!! GET HIM

im kind of guessing here too buddy

but if he is stock unrooted, couldn't he just do his official upgrade through Samsung, then deal with the recovery and root and all that hullabaloo?

just throwing it on the porch and seeing if the cat licks it up.....

either way will work I suppose,...personally I'd root as quick as I could, just because I could but you're right he could do that, I just didn't think about it but now that I have maybe she should do it your way

just kicking the cat onto the porch to see if he'll land close to the milk you have waiting for him

(edit)

I wonder if the official upgrade available to him is 4.1.2

and your way could very well work too, i'm just a little more cautious cause I know I can really EFF things up if I want to.

cool thing is, is I really don't even have to try.
I figure if they screw it up, then they are responsible..... no?

just trying to build a truck big enough to run over that frikken cat that keep hanging out on my frikken porch. HATE THAT CAT.

I think this thread is done. There is nothing more to explore.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app

I will remember that, considering your post count, you are making the accusation here that development has discontinued or that you now have everything mastered.

am I mistaken that your name sounds familiar due to the fact that you had what you considered, a major issue with your phone ? maybe a week or so ago?

don't worry about me, im playing a bit. but there is allllwwwwaaaaayyyys more to explore, and this thread is hardly done.

if you read, you know that the OP is taking a break from development for personal reasons. most likely a well deserved break. not to mention, the release of 4.3. whether there was really any major improvements or changes is a mute point. I am sure most development has stopped taken a detour to focus on that.

whether what I have said is true or not, making a public statement such as "I think this thread is done" OR "nothing more to explore here", comes across (to me) is an ungrateful statement. it might give the impression that your thought is, that all this developers work is for nothing and why did they waste their time.

when the fact is, all these developers do this selfless act for the enjoyment of others and because they love what they do..

this is not a rant, just friendly advice for a person who is new to XDA. who may be unaware of the unity and love of the members for their devices, developers and their minions or loyal followers.

stick around my friend and see what happens all around our forum, not just this thread. plenty to explore
