Plug Placing n4 on charging orb doesn't play sound and doesn't turn on screen

When I place my n4 onto the orb, the screen does not light up and no sound is played as expected on 4.2.2

Because of the screen not coming on, daydream mode also doesn't turn on after the set time.

The expected behavior I have seen on a friend's n4 when they put it on their orb is for there to be a noise then the screen comes on. If you leave it on the orb then it goes into daydream mode after the screen timeout.

Anyone else have an issue where it doesn't do this or know of a fix?

Do you have a case on your phone? On larger cases, the distance between the phone and the charger is too much for it to work.

No case. Also, I forgot to mention that the phone does charge just fine on the orb. It just doesn't make the sound and turn on the display to eventually allow daydream to turn on.

Odd. I'm pretty sure that 4.2.2 update turned off the sound if the phone's charge is >90% or something...
I'm assuming you have daydream set up properly too? There are a few different options for when it should turn on.

Same behavior if battery is below 90%. I have daydream set to "either" but same issue is I set to charge or even dock .

Anyone else seeing this or just me? I may wipe the device to see if that helps but really don't want to.

yup, same thing happens to me. running 4.2.2

so I have two QI chargers - one is the LG WCP 700 and that one will light up the screen just like its plugged into the wall

the Orb charges for me just as you described. that tells me for sure that the phone recognizes this as something different

actually this dock isn't perfect for me. if i don't put it on right, it will alternate between charging and not charging every 2 seconds, and this will actually light the screen up. doesn't happen often, but its really annoying when it does. fixes if you move it a bit.
