Re: [Team Kernelizers][How To] KT747 Kernel Tweaks

Ok I attached them, thanks for helping!

Checked all your stuff, i would suggest
-a lower max if its something youd consider
-try a drop of atleast 25mv off all thode voltages, there is a - 25mv off all steps button in ktweaker.
-nothing reached out and spoke to me from all those pics, so keep radios blutooth, wifi, 3g mobile data off unless in use at the moment. Set sync options if you have a bunch to only on occasion never 15 minutes or anything low at all. For debugging this issue id say even toggle sync off temporary.
-brightness use only what you need. Grab luxauto brightness to drop screen lower than stock min. I find screen inside brighter than needed, could save juice.
-darken your apps and backrounds. More black less drain while screen on.
I know i mentioned some not to do with screen off battery drain.
-if you have a ton of media files, temporary move them off phone so mefia scanner dont go crazy till culptrit found or grab the kill media server app etc.
Probably more i am forgetting

So basically the higher the integer the more run time it gets ?

Just downloaded paid version of Temp Monitor. Simple and nice app to have. What do you have your refresh interval set at ? I see stock is at every 5 seconds.

Thanks i love it. Not expensive and very good. Rarely i enter app it closes but i renter and all runs fine, notification back. When i settle my phone in 5 secs in notification tray is good. I have 1 sec set when i am monitoring testing, the notification i enabled direct cpu read. Ill use 5 secs to 3 secs for everday use. It doesnt update when screen off :good:

On home screen i put a widget set reading from system logged battery temp as it drains less than realtime battery temp. I set that to 1 minute refresh interval.
Mines at 95-102f surfing now. Glad you like it.

I personally haven't used it yet, I did just download the script from xda to test it out before purchasing. Going to test it out once my device is charged.

So after trying to wrap my brain around the Governor adjustments and experimenting by tweaking RErick's amazing settings, I managed to pull an extra hour of screen on time.

I'm by no means a expert at these adjustments, I'm learning as I go by all the helpful info posted by Team Kernelizers, but here's my setup if anyone is interested.

(FAST) Processors
-100 UV all across the board
Max freq 1080
Min freq 96
Pegasusq Governor of course.. :p
Zen I/O

Attached are KTweaker settings screenshots.

Performance is still good, tho I scored about 300 points lower in benchmark than RErick's settings. This is also on stock battery. :)

Alright man it would be good to know I'm pretty sure I'm not doing anything wrong considering there's only one option but I could be wrong haa

Yeah, one way to monitor is to see how much percentage your battery drops per hour when in deep sleep with app on, then off. I really can't see why it would cause drain but haven't tested it myself yet. Plan on it soon. RErick seems to get great results with it.

Re: [Team Kernelizers][How To] KT747 Kernel Tweaks

I don't see how it causes more battery drain considering that it doesn't run anything but just loads a script to shut off CPU1. There has to be something else going on. Could you pm me a log cat... That would be helpful also the script version of CPU sleeper is pretty much the same thing as the app. I bought the app and recommend it because these devs spend a lot of time developing for us and I always buy the donate version of anything I use if only to help out. Remember these guys spend many hours for little or nothing only to benefit US. What's a dollar and a half anyway? Less than a beer at the bar or a pack of cigarettes or even a soda where I live. Donating to support the devs benefits EVERYONE :good: I will not accept donations because I make enough money at my regular job so don't ask to donate to me. Help the real devs out there:thumbup::thumbup::)

Gonna start toying around with this governor for ya, probably tomorrow. Had some things to iron out on that ktoonservative but now I've got a good understanding of what was going on, and I'm ready to press on.

Re: [Team Kernelizers][How To] KT747 Kernel Tweaks

Okay I've been away from tweaking for a couple of days... Trying to get a script to run in recovery for the guys in the sprint forum. I will have some modified ones for us in a couple of weeks. For those that don't know me I am a driller on an oil rig in Colorado on a rig that runs Linux as the operating system lol. But I work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off and I am going back to work on Tuesday for 2 weeks son I will be a little distant from the thread but not gone. I will still be testing and working on my next gov tweaks which will be a surprise!

What you know 'bout wearing a wolf on ya noggin?

Sometimes tested it myself cpu sleeper doesn't like custom kernels and or some variants of Android. Some instances core two doesn't come back on. I had latest version as of January i believe and tested the versions before that. Not saying it don't work, but it could be adding drain to a phone easily if its not working right and some how effected hotplugging or anything else. Where is latest script. Id like to see if it has issues on ktweaker or anything else.
How does mpdecision effect cpu sleeper, which has control over which as in which takes command over the other?

Actually in the other thread i posted many pics proving core two stayed on entire time cpu sleeper was on and screen was off... I used Trepn Profiler Qualcomms own monitoring app. The graph showed core two never turned off. :( its a free app at Qualcomm website. Need to make an account free thats it. Atleast this was on my setup at the time i had posted it. I know all phones and setups can vary greatly.

I want this APP I gotta make an account. O use CPU stats and can watch my cpu in the status bar. But I already know that you guys are light years ahead of me in this department +1

    Kernel Information
    General Installation Instructions (for both TW and AOSP):
    1. Download correct version of kernel for your device and rom. This is important as you may brick your phone is you use the wrong version.
    2. Flash kernel using your preferred recovery
    3. Do the following AFTER installing the kernel and BEFORE you reboot your phone:
    a. Clear cache
    b. Clear dalvik
    c. Fix Permissions
    4. Reboot your device.
    TW Specific Kernel Instructions:
    (can be used with AOSP too)
    There are some files on your TouchWiz phone that need to be renamed in order to maximize the battery life of your phone. There has been some debate on whether or not this is necessary, but for now we would recommend renaming these files to ensure that there is no chance of excessive battery drain.

    Part 1:

    These steps are only necessary on TouchWiz ROMs, however you can also do this on AOSP as well:
    1. You must have ROOT. You will need to have a root enabled file explorer on your phone (ES File Explorer works very well and you can get it from the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en). When you get it, open it up and go the the settings and scroll all the way down until you see the Root Settings. Go in there and enable ALL of the root settings.
    2. After that is done, navigate to your root folders using the Folder Up icon at the top. Once you are in your root folders, navigate to /system/bin and locate the following files. You will need to rename them with a ".bak" at the end of the filename
    gsiff_daemon --> gsiff_daemon.bak
    mpdecision --> mpdecison.bak
    qosmgr --> qosmgr.bak
    smd --> smd.bak
    smdexe --> smdexe.bak
    Renaming these files will not harm your phone. Many users rename these files every time they flash a rom, and no damge is done.
    Also, some ROMs come with these files renamed or deleted entirely, so if you don’t find a file, don’t be alarmed.
    You have to do this every time you flash the ROM and/or Kernel.
    If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself, you can use the TK-MOD (see Downloads section) and it will handle this for you.

    Part 2:

    Stopping mpdecision from being called:
    1. Open terminal emulator and type the following code:
    su
    2. When terminal emulator asks for root permission hit 'Grant' or 'Allow'.
    3. At the # prompt type:
    stop mpdecision
    Using Rom Toolbox (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox) we will make a script that will stop mpdecision from being called at each boot so you don't need to use terminal emulator each time
    1. Open Rom Toolbox and scroll down to the Scripter option
    2. In the scripter, click the “+” button in the top right corner, then select 'Create'
    3. Type a name for our new script, lets call it “stop mpdecision”
    4. In the commands enter the following text:
    #!/system/bin/sh
    stop mpdecision
    5. Hit the disk icon to save it
    6. Select the script that you just created and a dialog box should pop up, select set at boot
    Were done here

    AOSP Specific Kernel Instructions:
    When coming from a 3.0 Kernel to a 3.4 Kernel there is a new method with kernel updates. Skipping these steps will cause phone instability, due to some bad data left behind. This is a flaw in the Android OS, not the application. You must follow the instructions below (Thanks ktoonzs for the new method of the ktweaker app)
    1. Go to Settings on the phone
    2. Go to app manager then all apps
    3. Scroll down to ktweaker app n open it
    4. Once open hit FORCE STOP and then hit CLEAR DATA
    5. Reboot and flash your new update of ktoonzs kernel
    6. Repeat steps 1-4 in the above “General Installation” section
    You should be good to go after that

    Okay so Team Kernelizers now has a place to download the KTweaker backups. This should reduce the number of questions about where the latest tweaks are. All you have to do is download them to your KTweaker folder and in the KTweaker app use the restore feature! Every team member has a folder so you can see all of them all that is in mine is the latest Pegasusq/Zen tweaks from the op. I will have more when I am released from this prison people like to call "work"
