I've run the main 3 modems... MDK ME7 and ml1. The best one in my area I feel is ME7. I'm get about 8-10 mbps more with ME7. Also, I'm about 30 min South of Philly.
I haven't yet tried the Dev Edition MDK yet but don't expect any difference the the vzw MDK

So im still confused, im on ME7 Firmware/update Rooted running SS. Will flashing modems work in my situation, or only if Im on stock MDK firmware?

They will work in your situation. I have 2 gs4's one on MDK and one on ME7. These zips should work for all situations though. We've had problems with Dev devices, maybe because they don't have to use Safestrap or Loki'd recoveries...im still looking into it for them.

You can't flash newer kernels because I think that messes with the exploit, i believe.

Mark, are you using Philz CWM?

Maybe the recovery matters? I'm using TWRP, installed via GooManager last week. I'm guessing it's likely loki'd.

I have experienced some long splash screen pauses and some full out non-response at splash screen (just this morning multiple times consecutively).

I'm still on the original MDK firmware. Do any of these modems enable AWS? I'd like to use my device with AT&T's LTE. Thanks!

Here are my results and averages for MDK with the newest modem. Please note I have had a few more readings in the 50's + but are not on that list of results.

Anyone know if there's a way to check the frequency or anything? It'd be an easy way to confirm for sure one way or the other

I too am experiencing this. I'm on CMW touch 6.0.3.8. Can't get past the boot screen and have to revert to MDK to boot back up.

I am on MDK firmware and using the new modem. I posted the 50+ screen shot that was mentioned. I will post another of my average in a few minutes.

Switched to new Philz CMW recovery and that did the trick. No hang times whatsoever. I forgot how great that felt :cyclops:

I was asked to post these, so here are all the modems. They can be flashed in both Loki and Safestrap recoveries. You can flash back and forward as you like. The 3rd is from the dev. GS4 and works with consumer GS4's as well. In Safestrap if you flash it on the non-safe side (rom slot sides) it will still show on the safe side, don't worry you can still flash back. If needed pm or post a reply and ill put up the Odin tar's as needed or you can extract the modem.bin files and create an odin image yourself, all modem.bin files are trimmed of the padded zeroes and will register as signed. For most users flashing the modem only zips is all thats needed and the safest option. Do not flash any of the NON-HLOS + modem zips beyond MDK if your on mdk, and none past ME7 if your on Safestrap with a ME7 base and none past MI1 if your using Safestrap with a MI1 base.

Note: CM users, if you use the VRUEMJ7 modem with NON-HLOS.bin you will lose audio until you flash a cm build made on 10/29 or later!

The nonhlos packages are for recovery if you have problems! ONLY FLASH THE NONHLOS and MODEM PACKAGES OF THE BOOTLOADER YOU ARE ON!

    A: No

Q: Can I flash these with Safestrap? Loki'd twrp? Cwm?
    A: Yes x3

    A: No x5

    Q: Why no NON-HLOS.bin?
A: If you can tell me why you want it, ill answer but why ask if you don't even know what it does in the first place?

Q: Is anything else needed to enable AWS bands?
    A: Not sure yet...

Today ahoslc on a different thread found the odin for the unreleased 4.4.2 update http://sxtpdevelopers.com/samsung-sch-i545-verizon-kit-kat/ I am interested in the only the modem but I don't know how to grab it from the tar file.

Added I545VRUFNC2_modem_apnhlos.zip and I545VRUFNC2_modem.zip to the OP

    No modem extracted yet?

    No OTA link yet?

If you have a link, let me know. I'll extract and zip it up after I get home tonight.

EDIT - Found the OTA. I'll create and upload the zips shortly, then I'll have Surge add them to the OP.

EDIT2 - Here are the links for modem only and modem + NON-HLOS zips for VRUGOC1:

    Modem only: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952594946
    Modem + NON-HLOS: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952594947

MD5sums are on the AFH pages, and I've verified the ones displayed on the site match the zips before uploading. As always, remember to ONLY flash the modem + NON-HLOS zip if your bootloader is already on VRUGOC1 (it's not). I'll get in touch with Surge and have him update the OP whenever he can.
