Default Thinking about getting one. Will the Galaxy Nexus always get updates?

Noob question here.

I'm considering buying the Galaxy Nexus. I'd like to ask a couple of questions before I pull the trigger on this phone. I'm thinking about purchasing it directly from the Google Play Store.

My question is if the Galaxy Nexus bought from the Google Play Store will always get updates directly from Google without any sort of carrier or manufacturer bs.

Thanks in advance.

Yup even then... ports from the gsm to the CDMA versions are made here. But yeah your firmware will come straight from Google.

Hmm.

I don't completely agree with this. Let's see. Nexus S shipped with Gingerbread, and only recently got Ice Cream. There hasn't been any mention of Jelly Bean on it.

The Galaxy Nexus was the first for Ice Cream and for Jelly Bean. I doubt it will be the first for Key Lime Pie. I'm going to bet the newest/next Nexus phone will have Key Lime Pie at launch, then we'll get it in Feb Marchish of the following year. Anything past Key Lime... I'm going to doubt.

/2 cents.

Edit: So it seems that the Nexus S is getting jellybean after all. So perhaps getting the nexus wont be so bad after all. You should get at least 2 more updates.
Galaxy Nexus - Beans, beans, they're good for your heart.

At the Google I/O presentation of Jelly Bean they said it was on its way to Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S, so yeah, they kinda mentioned it.

It will receive Jelly Bean and whatever is after that.
After that though, I seriously doubt it. Google will cut its legs off just as it did the Nexus One.
