Ah, ok. I was a bit worried there for a second. Thanks.
We already fixed storing and restoring selinux contexts for the note 3 which was the biggest issue to backup and restore for selinux Enforcing.
Thanks, can you reboot android, and use adb shell as soon as it's available and give me the output from the following command:
Code:logcat | grep gralloc
Hi. I just installed via ODIN PDA and started my first backup! Only problem I had is that it didn't recognized my external sd card for backup. It's a 64gb sandisk card formatted from the tablet itself.... What could be the problem?
Thanks!
Chale
I have a problem with your recovery.
When I try to login with adb shell the result is:
local@localhost ~ $ adb shell
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: could not load library "libc.so" needed by "/sbin/sh"; caused by library "libc.so" not found
local@localhost ~ $
As I understand recovery have some unresolved binary dependences, isn't it?
The version of twrp is 2.6.3.0
Using the version still released via ODIN (Brown inverted theme), I cannot advanced wipe either delvik and cache partition. In fact, I cannot even mount it. Each time I attempt this process, the recovery freezes and a manual reboot is required. What is worse is that booting into Android is unsuccessful from there. It just hangs at the white Samsung logo.
I have to manually re-install the stock MK1 CSC through ODIN to get the system to reboot properly.
Is this version of the recovery mismanaging the partition locations?
Any time you flash a non-stock recovery, it'll trip knox and so far, it's irreversible.
Restoring a backup might not (which probably isn't any different than flashing the stock firmware with Odin), but not sure how you can without a custom recovery, which does.
If you flash TWRP via Odin, you don't need root. If you install via Goo (which last I checked still did not work), you DO need root.
So because other people will ask, and I'm not completely sure on the answer....if you flash this with Odin, you don't need root, but do you not need root to actually use it? I guess maybe not would make sense, but I dunno.
It obviously went give you root, right, but I'm pretty sure it would automatically trip Knox as soon as you flash it.....who cares about Knox if you are interested in modifying your phone, imo. Does it suck that it voids warranty? Yes, but Samsung warranty is crap anyways, Get square trade if it's available in your country, if not then get your note from somewhere with a good protection plan etc
TWRP will offer to install supersu for root if it sees that you don't have root already installed.
OK...here goes my ignorance. So if I don't have root on this device and install TWRP, when it installs Supersu does that mean then that I am rooted?
Just curious on that point. I'm not rooted yet, just studying up right now. I am anxiously awaiting a non-knox-tripping version of root!

fair enough... and as bigbiff said you should not install this if you do not want to trip knox
having said that, and in response to your last answer bigbiff.... would this be a functional way to obtain root? to me it seems a little too easy compared with having to use a dedicated file that gets flashed to the tablet....why would we need the cf auto root if you can just flash twrp and root it in one flash?
thanks.... i'm sure there's a totally legit answer but i can't think of it.....

oh and what is with, on the mirror, there being a 2.6.3.8 version on there??? it shows the date as being older than 2.6.3.1 so there's no way i'll be touching that... but i'm curious.... there have been more people who have downloaded that than the other two.... not good? or just a typo?
Alright, sorry it took so long to get back to you. My internet, home AND mobile, has been down, off and on, for two days now. So I couldn't reply, or get on freenode. The test build works. I wiped cache, it took a long time, but completed successfully. I then booted Android. I went back into the TWRP test build and performed a factory reset. Factory reset was also successful. Android booted into the setup screen (because data had been wiped). I booted back into TWRP, and restored a backup, successfully. I did a new backup, in TWRP, and it restores ok. The last thing I did was flash a rom-- also good.
We appreciate the the work, you put into this project. I'm sure it's been frustrating, but it looks like you have a functional base to build on. Let me know if you need anything else.
THANKS!
tldr: The test build works.
