I've just spotted the "EXPECT US" in the thread title :D

Can you share any details of anything the next release will have mate? I'm not asking for an ETA or anything stupid like that, because I know you'll release the next Stunner whenever you feel it's ready. It'd just be nice to know of any new features etc. :)

Getting 2 days out of lp5. Mail sync push. Facebook push. Whatsapp push. Msn always on. Lots a xda app checking this thread. Few calls . Some bt audio for about one and a half hour.
Lp5 is the way to go. Lp6 and on is just getting worse battery life according to most people.
For me I get 20 hours out of lp6.

Why do very few people quote their "screen on" time when talking about battery life? It's one of best indicators imo because the screen is probably the most power hungry component on the device.

Have I missed something or is there no way to change the save location for the camera? I've noticed that LiquidSmooth v2 has been released and setting the camera save location is in the changelog. This would be an extremely handy feature if it's not currently possible.

Guys, take a look at the last 2 pages in the franco kernel thread, it seems to have absolutely amazing battery life. And there's no hard brick bug. So why not use his superb kernel? I think it can not be that hard to fix the auto rotation. Everything else works fine...

Franco has given no iron clad guarantee the hard brick bug is fixed. Read carefully what he has said.

Just flash a safe cwm/kernel before doing a factory reset and then install rom. Who cares what kernel he uses if you follow that process? Its not like your phone randomly bricks itself during normal use, it only happens when wiping data or factory reset.

I agree with you but I think you will find that Entropy has said somewhere that in extreme cases the phone can brick during normal use when deleting very large files. My take on that is that you would have to be extremely unlucky. I'm willing to take the risk. :)

Think i have a better chance of bricking my phone via toilet every time i choose to use it while going #2.

Thats in the stock ICS kernels especially LPY. The note doesn't brick but doing heavy memory intensive I/O tasks (like deleting or moving large files) can damage the MMC. And later have problems in flashing and booting and the note might get stuck forever in recovery. No rom will load on it.

hi abishara, when you say large files how big is it exactly?

I assume that this problem is true for even the official stock LP9 ICS from Samsung, right?

Yes i have tested liquid yesterday and am now back on stunner. Didn't like it that much. And had a couple of fc's. Camera save location is a big plus.
Kernel franco wasn't optimized enough for aosp though.

@neo: Please take your sweet time man.
I rather have a stable working build than an "unfinished rushed to satisfy the people need a update quick rom"
This version is fine for now.
Please do not theme your new rom.
Is perfect as is imho

+1

But as this is based on AOKP, their latest builds also have the Theme Chooser built in so i'm 99% sure that the next Stunner will have it too :D

Thats good to know.
Then everybody can decide for themselves.
Better that way imo.
Liquid was themed so dark and shiny I couldn't read or see anything. You can then remove the theming but......not user friendly.

Totally agreed. I'd prefer to have the latest Stunner as a blank canvas, and then use one of the dozens of themes available for ICS (AOKP, AOSP, CM9 etc.) to make it look how I like. I've never been in to themed ROMs, and once again I'm 99% sure that Neo will leave it with the current stock ICS look that its always had :D

Sorry guys but I have never used Stunner before, and I'm awaiting the latest release for the purposes of ' safe kernel '.

So this ROM is basically a pure AOKP experience? :)

Used to have an SGS and ran AOKP over any other ROM. It's the best ROM! - I hope the developer keeps on focusing on building from AOKP if so. Appreciated.

I need some clarification please. It's been a while since I've last played with my phone. A few months ago I flashed ICS Stunner 5.0 Beta ROM and I9220ZCLP5 kernel using CMWR and it's been running great, except that I lost root in the flashing process! Now i'm reading about kernel bricking problems and I think I may be on an affected kernel.

I've read advice to flash a safe kernel immediately, but I'm a bit worried I might brick my phone because i'm already on an affected kernel. What can I do?

You're safest and best bet is to use PC Odin and flash Gingerbread ROM and get root and CWM Recovery, then wait for the next Stunner update which will be on a safe kernel :)

After Reboot, go to Apex Launcher Settings and set grid size to 6x6 or 6x5 to enjoy full screen accommodation of icons.
If you still don't get Tablet Mode, that means your device isn't rooted properly and you need to clean install this ROM.
