Woo! I may have to flash this. Any chance you could do another mod? Ssecifically, CRT on/off animation.

it's bools.xml in framwork-res/values from what i hear, and this is the change

<bool name="config_animateScreenLights">true</bool>

change true to false

PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION AND ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED DEVICES.

You may have noticed that the Nexus 7 3G does not have the tethering options enabled by default.

I couldn't live with that (that was partially the point why I got the 3G version), so have patched the framework to enable those options. Partial credits go to PaulOBrien@MoDaCo who has fixed the apktool for Android 4.2 .

To get it to work just flash the ZIP below. It will only work on the JOP40D and JOP40C releases, and obviously only if you have a 3G device. Please do not try it on the WiFi-only Nexus 7 :) .

Please note that it doesn't do a backup of the original framework-res.apk, so you can either make one yourself, or you can reflash the factory system image if you want to go back to stock later.

the stock framework 4.3 is the old one and u dont need to flash this

just flash the enabletether ...

the stock is only to be able to update ota since the updater checks the files and the enable thether dont match so bevore an update u need to go back to stock. i will eventually put the ywr66y stock online as well some day.

but stop flashing stock recovery and then enable tether just costs time.

Would this work or bork Spr HTC One(4.3)?

Hi i just pulled the file decompressed it and it works for me i will aditionally put a small guide here:

after pulling framework-res.apk and decompiling modify the following lines in /res/values/arrays.xml

<array name="config_tether_usb_regexs" />
<array name="config_tether_wifi_regexs" />
<array name="config_tether_wimax_regexs" />
<array name="config_tether_bluetooth_regexs" />
<array name="config_tether_dhcp_range" />
<array name="config_mobile_hotspot_provision_app" />
<array name="config_tether_upstream_types" />

to

<string-array name="config_tether_usb_regexs">

rndis\\d

</string-array>
<string-array name="config_tether_wifi_regexs">

wlan\\d

</string-array>
<array name="config_tether_wimax_regexs" />
<string-array name="config_tether_bluetooth_regexs">

bnep\\d

</string-array>
<array name="config_tether_dhcp_range" />
<array name="config_mobile_hotspot_provision_app" />
<integer-array name="config_tether_upstream_types">

0

1

5

7

</integer-array>

recompile the framework-res.apk sign it and u are ready to go.

Here are the links for the stock framework and the tether mod:

Stock Framework 4.3
Tether enabled

U can flash them with sideload and i recommend a cache wipe after it.

Could I possibly flash this mod to an HTC One [Sprint] on 4.3 as well? or would it (as I'm assuming it will) Really screw it up?

You should be able to build a framework mod with the same changes for your device, but there's no way these will work.

i think it could work but it will as well screw up some things since some animations and other settings are stored in the framework as well.

the mod is really easy to do but there are no garanties it works.

Hello all. I applied the mod to the 4.2.1 and never updated since then.

I'd like now to update to 4.3 and then re-enable tethering on it. Which are the exact steps to take and files to use? Thx in advance.

After Opening The Download Window In Google Drive.. Go To File -> Click Download

You Will Now Download The Zip File. Google Drive Automatically Shows Files Inside The Zip Drive.

Hi.
I am just stupid or something, but I can't download it like zip. I can download it just like separate files…

I have got it! :D That was just the safari in Mac problem…

---------- Post added at 03:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:06 PM ----------

I have only flashed this file http://goo.gl/vSvqhO in android 4.3.

Surprisingly Everything is working except USB Tethering as like others. When I enable , it automatically disables. But Thanks for the wifi hostspot. It would be great if anyone notifies me when the developer fixes this...

Dont forget to flash stock framework before ota update

If you're on modded stock you may lose count of how many things you've modded. Best approach is just to skip the OTA and wait for either a stock rooted flashable ROM to come out, or flash the fastboot images of the new OS. Usually these images come out within a day or two of the OTA or even before.

Considering that no one replied to my request and that 4.4 is out in the meanwhile, I now ask: is there wifi tethering in the original 4.4 for nexus 7 2012? If not, is there a mod to enable it? If yes, how do I install 4.4, considering that I modded the 4.2.1 with the hotspot mod? Thx.

No dice again, unfortunately.
I'm afraid it will be waiting for someone capable enough to make the mod again.

The instructions here for building the patch seem straightforward enough. You need the Android SDK installed. I could do it if no one gets to it before me, but I'm not going to have time to do it for a couple weeks at best.

    Hi Folks,

    as far i could tell there are no diferences in the stock framework-res.apk but i think i fixed the bootloop error on first install and i made a new enable tether file for jwr66y anyways hf flashing.
