Yup, restarted twice as I always like to since I know it may sometimes take several restarts both cold and hot. And yes I have an HTC Evo 4g from sprint. Did you check the apn though, is it correct?

If the HA and AAA values need to be there, then what is the correct values that should be there?

Okay, The APN is correct the only thing I see different is the MNC.
I've always put my MetroPCS MSL Code into the HA & AAA values.

You guys wont believe this. I HAVE 3G!!!! It's not steady but pretty close I think I'm gonna have to play with the prls now. All I did was change preffored mode to wcdma_only and band preferred to pcs only. Since after my research of metros technology I decided to try it and its the first time I've even seen a 3g icon and have data when I have it. Once I get this totally figured out ill post instructions. I used a dfs that someone sent me to do wcdma I don't think the demo version has it. But I'm sitting outside target waitning on my girl to cone out and I have had it the whole time so were getting close. About time.

Congrats man this is great news hopefully it will work for everyone else!
So all you did in DFS was set your pref mode to wcdma_only, and the band to pcs? That's it? Really? :D

*Somebody else try it out and post results, It would be great if this were the solution.

what i did to get 3g..

Ok guys here is a quick guide since im only gonna be home for a minute. I will edit later so jd can update the op if this works for anyone else.
In dfs on the Nam tab pref mode=wcdma only then the band pref= pcs only all the others i have set to home only.
Here is the link to the dfs i used the setting are a little different.Im not sure i its updated or what. Either that or i used the wrong one the whole time http://www.multiupload.com/7G5R1WJRPK

For my apns i have the apn.conf rar file that is in mdiaz's signature.

I also used root explorer and edited my build prop where the scripts didnt. There is a few ro files that say( ro.main.cid=spcs_001 )i changed all of them that said that to( ro.main.cid=METRO0001 )make sure metro is all caps then 001. Just change the spcs you see on those i think there is four that says that. I also changed in the build prop where it says cdma mode preffered to wcdma_hdr mode preferred. Im not sure if my changes to the build prop helped but its pretty easy to do just go into root explorer hold the build prop until the menu comes up and scroll down to open in text editor and change those few things.

I will make this more user friendly later i just wanted to do what i can now. i hope this helps everybody else that hasnt been able to get 3g.

Ps im setting my girls phone up like this now and were going out where i know its full 3g ill update later once i got both phones going with it. Good luck everyone.

Well did this work for anyone else? I'm even getting 3g at home now its only evdo0 at home with a low signal so speeds aren't much faster. I got my phone on prl 3022 and my girls on 3025 hers seems to have a better signal so far. I really hope somone else got this to work too. It only took us a hundred pages of this.thread. LOL someone wake up so I know if this worked for anyone else.

It's crazy I wanna try some other prls but I'm afraid to mess it up.

That's great news man, go ahead and try other PRLs, maybe the 3026, I'm sure you'll get better signal with it.
Yeah it took 100 pages, I haven't been that active recently because I've been extremely busy. Now we need someone else to confirm that this is the solution.

Ive tried it with prl 3024,3025,and 3026 and no luck. For your information, since I have CM7 rom, dialing *#*#4636#*#*(*#*#INFO#*#*) I was able to modify preferred network to WCDMA Only. I tried it also using DFS you provided but no avail.
I also notice(since ROM is different im guessing) that build.prop is different than yours. I dont have ro.main anywhere in there. There is, however, ro.ril.def.preferred.network and it equals to 4 which means it connects to CDMA/Evdo. There is also ro.telephony.default_network and it equals to 4 as well. Changing the preferred network in DFS or via *#*#INFO#*#* does not modify build.prop So what I tried doing is manually changing ro.ril.def.preferred.network to equal 2(which is WCDMA Only) but no luck. I have yet to travel to another location to check.

sorry for the long explanation, I just wanted to let everyone know what Ive tried.

I remember when I ran cm that there was not much to the build prop at all. So that could be a good thing I guess. But 4 is correct for preffered network. I was getting all my 3g on 3022 it was going back and forth all morning from 1x to 3g I tried updating to 3025 since that what metro phones around here get. But got nothing on that I reverted back. But when i set wcdma on dfs then once its set that way when i go into advanced settings I can watch the preffered mode change from wcdma only to evdo and back to cdma auto so my opinion would be change it on dfs then do auto on the phone . I'm not messing with mine any more I changed prl like a half hour ago back to 3022 and it hasn't been changing I'm about to go out where there is 3g now so ill know more in a few
Quick question if you look on sensorly map are you right in the green for 3g. Cause when I'm at home I'm like 3miles outside the main area. I was still getting both 3 and 1 at hone this morning. Just curious if you know your right in 3g and did you switch to pcs only?

Ok, I will do the change in DFS and update PRL to 3026 since Ive seen a couple 4g metro phones updated to that prl here and leave it at that. And yes I did switch to pcs only. Will be traveling to a couple different areas later today and monitoring it see if it connects to any of the towers around outside.

Also, could you do a speed test and post the results?. Curious how fast it is in your area.

When i ran the speed test i was only connecting to evdo0 my ping was in the low 500's download was 170 and up was 190 so not much improvement but a little. Im so pissed at myself for switching prls though. earlier before the change everytime my 1x signal would fade 3g would come and stay for a while and going back and forth. but now that i tried 3025 and got nothing. i reverted back and its not even flip flopping for me. Im gonna go the places i went yesterday to see if somehow a tower i was by refreshed my phone to connect or something. Cause it all started i had it switched to wcdma only then when i was at ikea and went to use my phone i had no service but my open signal widget said evdoA so i started keeping an eye on my phone after that and it started getting 3g once i was closer to detroit. so it seems like once i connected that one time after changing the settings it stayed. This is th closest ive been though after months of not getting any 3g data. i just gotta figure out why that prl change stopped it. cause im on the same prl that was getting it now. confused. just added those pics so you guys know im not bullsh$#in. : )

A Little Help Here For DFS 3.3.0.7 The Options Are Not The Same There Is No WCDMA_Only Or PCS Only Help If You Can :confused:

    Thread Introduction & Purpose:

    Welcome,

    You guys can call me JD, I created this general thread so MetroPCS users with flashed HTC EVO phones can post their 3G speeds & locations, and get help on obtaining 3G signal and other MetroPCS related things such as MMS settings. I'm open to answering any questions you guys may have to the best of my knowledge.
    MetroPCS is currently updating 20% of there towers from 1X to 3G.

    Simple Steps to getting 3G:

    1.Download and Write one of the following PRL's:

    3019, 3020, 3022, 3023, 3024, 3025, 3026, 3027, 3028, 3029, 3030, 3031, 3032, 3033, 3035

    Writen HTC EVO PRL Update Guide

    2.In QSPT Service Programming under M.I.P tab set the Mobile IP behavior to 'Simple IP' This will allow your phone to connect to 3G when available or 1X when not in a 3G service area.

    If there is 3G signal in your area after completing these 2 simple steps you should now have 3G.

    If your still having trouble getting 3G and your sure theirs 3G in your area theres still hope, Try forcing 3G by setting your EVO into HDR Mode.

    My Exact DFS Settings & Guide

    1. Register, Create Account!
    2. Download & Install. DFS.exe
    3. Dial ##DIAG# On EVO.
    4. Connect to PC.
    5. Open DFS.
    6. Enter Login Info.
    7. You'll enter Demo Mode (Allows Full Access of Program.) :D
    8. Next To Ports, Next to Open Close Ports button, There's a drop down menu, Choose your phone (HTC Diagnostic Interface (COM #)
    9. Then Click Open/Close Port Button until it opens your port and all your phones info appear in yellow in the Equipment screen.
    10. Press SPC send button (Unlocks Phone. ;))
    11. Go to the Programming Tab, Where you'll find, Nam, Data, Mobile IP Tabs
    12. Nam Tab> Read> Edit Settings> Write!
    13. Data Tab> Read> Edit Settings> Write!
    14. Mobile IP Tab> Read> Edit Settings> Write!

    Be careful while changing setting, look over things more than twice, If you need help on anything I'm here, Live Support :D!

    Hope this helps you guys! :D

    Steps to manualy setting your EVO into HDR Mode:

    *Warning: Manually forcing your phone into HDR Mode or Digital Mode my cause issues like your PRL going into 0000 IF your phone has been MEID repaired. You know who you are so do not attempt this if your HTC EVO was MEID repaired. Only try this if your are sure your HTC EVO was not MEID repaired.

    1. Dial ##3424# (Sets your phone in Diag mode).
    2. Connect your EVO to PC thourgh USB.
    3. Open QPST.
    4. Start Clients>Service Programming.
    5. Read from phone.
    6. Go to System tab.
    7. Set your Preffered Mode to: HDR only
    8. Write to Phone.

    Reboot your phone and your HTC EVO should now be forced to connect to 3G!

    The reason why I ask you guys to do this by QPST rather than by Advanced Settings is because most of the times you change it on Advanced Settings but it really doesn't change anything.

    Although you guys can check to see if your connected to Evdo using Advanced Settings App. Open the app and go into Phone Information, take a look at your Network Type it should now say CDMA- EvDo rev. A!

    MetroPCS APN Settings:


    1.Download APN Manager from the Android Market.
    2.Create a new APN and enter these settings:

    • APN: internet
    • Proxy: wap.metropcs.net:3128
    • Port: 3128
    • UserName: Phone#@mymetropcs.com
    • Password: MSL code*
    • Server: wap.metropcs.net
    • MMSC: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
    • MMS Proxy: wap.metropcs.net
    • MMS Port: 3128
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 004
    • APN Type: MMS

    3. Download Any Cut from the Android Market, then create an activity, apns on your homescreen.
    Open apns choose MetroPCS and edit then authentication type to pap or chap. If no APN exists create a new one and fill it in with the info above.

    -Make sure to enable created APN in APN Manager.
    -Also if your MMS still isn't working make sure the metropcs.sh file from the script is in the correct place, if it is execute it. If It's not etract it from the script, and place it in the root of the internal memory, set permissions, and then execute it.

    I was working on a new customers phone today and came in with an EVO preflashed (talk+txt) from MetroPCS with a 3029 PRL. I will rip it and upload later...

    Here it is, I haven't tried it yet but 3G works on the EVO!

    Hello, been following this thread for about 2 weeks. Lots of good info. I just registered so I can post this. Anyways, I have an Evo flashed to Metro. I've done everything but no 3G here in Bakersfield, CA. My wife has a Admire, also no 3G. I was messing with hers today and noticed that the PRL was reverted to 3026. She had 3027 when I had checked it before. So I did the *228 to update. And lo and behold 3028!!! Hopefully I wake up to 3G. Doubt it since I think Bakersfield is capped. Anyways, I hope this helps someone out there.

    There's a lot more to it that setting that to auto for those of us in markets that aren't connecting. My how I wish it were that simple. I've cloned metro phones and tried a million different combinations of data settings. Different profiles different shared secret passwords and still nothing. As long as you have followed the guide in the op you will get 3g from first boot if you are in a 3g area. Also all roms made for a cdma phone are automatically set to cdma auto prl. Imo its more along the lines of metro putting there evdo connections out over 1700 mhz signal which sprint phones do not have radios to support. Browse the thread a little from pages 80-100 u.should be able to find a lot of the tests I have done with modifying apks from metro wildfire amongst a lot of other things.
