so i tried updating via samsung kies 3 and it didnt update properly and now its stuck on download mode i didnt root it or anything

Download the Odin version of whatever you were trying to update and use Odin to complete your update..

I have this issue too. Odin detects the gear but hangs on Setup Connection then Connection Failed. Tried a couple of versions of Odin, 3.0.7, 3.0.9. Stuck in download mode.
