Apparently the latest 4.0.3 AOSP can directly be built for the Xoom now:

So, it just depends on how soon is "soon" regarding the proprietary binaries. But I have a feeling we have a good chance of having ICS to play with in time for Xmas. :)

Are these the Xoom binaries we need?

I believe Wingray is what we need :) Stingray is for the 3G device.

Almost tempted to setup a build environment and try my hand at my first ever ROM build. I probably would if I hadn't an already busy weekend ahead of me. But I'm sure one of the more experienced people on this forum will be all over this, and get us something working soon enough (provided Google didn't make building this too tricky).

For Xoom: I know that the camera and HDMI don't work. The rest of the
device seems functional (wifi, 3G, sensors, audio, OpenGL). There
might be some trickiness with the variety of bootloaders and
basebands, I haven't been able to test those broadly as Xoom is a bit
ticklish in that domain and you might need to edit your board-info.txt
accordingly.

I hope we get some ICS before I give up on my good ol' Xoom for some Transformer Prime goodness

I already gave up on the Xoom and moved onto the Playbook and Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 with a PNY 32GB Class 10 Card in it for $30. Portability is my thing now. The Galaxy Player fits in my back pocket (with PowerAmp and Equalizer) it is the BEST PMP on the Market. Has Netflix and Amazon Prime instant movies. My Moto Photon has Unlimited Mobile Hotspot (customer since 1997) and was GrandFathered in. 4G is Saturated in my area. I actually gave my kids the Xoom and 32GB HP Touchpad (Firesale). Too big for my liking.

I did find bigrushdog's post from yesterday:
Yes there are some ics builds up. Check em out. Have fun. We've been playing with ics for weeks . And yes our build, which will be released under a new team name, will be epic.

It seems weird to me that the xoom seems so far behind on ICS Dev... it should be the furthest you would think...

Looks like the HP Touchpad is further along then the xoom and it isn't even android native.

Is there anything your average person can do to help? I would love having even a really alpha build to test...

To reiterate before the wolves jump on me, I am not asking for ETAs, and I am not saying the work is not appreciated, I am asking if we can get a flashable build of ICS to put on our xooms so we can help. A large amount of people can make headway a lot faster then a small handful. I think that's why progress seems faster on other devices.

    Thanks for your work.
