Looks like 4.2.1 could be in the S3 future. Check it out

I kinda agree that smart stay is kinda gimmicky. Half the time it doesn't work even when im in a well lit area. And if Direct Call is in the ROM i may check it out. How's the battery life though?

Well it's gonna be WAY different for me because I have the Hyperion 4200mAh extended battery.... but my battery lasted me 60+ hrs with 3 1/2+ hrs of on screen time. Was on WiFi only like 50% of the time and a HORRIBLE reception area like 65% of the time. So yeah, it's pretty damn good lol. Also I have the MA6 modem along with the KT747 Kernel with some tweaks.

I once hated touchwiz but i prefer touchwiz now, vanilla android is boring it lacks innovations that factory skins have. I'm not saying all the feature are great but damn atleast they attempted something different with the possibilities of finding something useful the end user could use.
I tried the aosp ROMs but they give me the feeling of owning pro tools with no plug ins. I bought the phone for the extra stuff it could do it almost defeat the purpose of owning it, to put those ROMs on there but to reach its own.

I'll be surprised if the carriers release 4.2.1 in the states. Hopefully, Samsung still goes ahead and develops it for the US phones and we can get some custom ROMs built once it leaks.

Samsung has ALWAYS updated the U.S. phones to the same version as the international version. They just come a little later. Also, the phone will most likely get updated to Key Lime Pie. The Galaxy SII is still getting updated to jelly bean 4.1 and that started with gingerbread.

I know just saying aosp is better

I have never, not once used an AOSP ROM on any phone, and had it perform adequately. There were always problems with the radios, with battery life, less stable, and just not trustworthy. Going from the EVO to the SGS2. I did not even both with it on the SGS3, just based on the comments in the relevant threads.

And to put it bluntly, Samsung has done an excellent job with the SGS3 ROM and kernel. All custom kernels that I tried on a TW ROM have actually hurt performance significantly, despite tweaking as described in the various threads.

Agree. On S2, I never ran stock rom/kernel. But on s3, everything is stock. Samsung really did a good job on S3 Roms.

Does anyone know of a touchwiz rom that has best pose(different from best face) and WiFi tether working?

Hard to tell if the S3 will get 4.2.1 since we just got 4.1.2. Not to mention that the S4 is coming out this year so it maybe the flag staff of the 4.2.1. Only time will tell. Is it Sprint that pushes the updates or Samsung its self?

At this point I believe touchwiz is better on the GS3. So many more functions and more stability. Okus better battery life for me.
